ZL1 Bumper
Finally got a chance to install our Zl1 bumper on our car, turns out the Zl1 bumper cowl line feature is much wider than a stock hood... looks way off in black, it will look even worse painted.. The conclusion is the Zl1 bumper won't work with the stock hood or any of our current camaro hoods.... I guess we need to design new hoods for the ZL1 :-)
As expected all the mounting points are the same, fenders are perfect, the reinforcement is different... |

You can have your body shop guy fix that, there is more then you need to fix it, you will see.

I noticed you don't have the upper grille installed. Do you think it just maybe sagging a bit? Try putting a grille in it and test fit it again please. I want this to work at least without any body fill.

A grill wont expand the feauture... the total difference is over an 1'' on side. As we have seen in the past you can make anything fit... all depends on how you want your car to bolt up... or how much body plastic or handcrafting you want to do.... not something i'd want on my brand new camaro :-)
The rigth thing to do is just to buy a ZL1 hood with your Zl1 Bumper, once painted it will be very noticaeable, a hand crafter is what it is, just set your expectations accordingly..... |

That is noticeable but it won't take much to get the cowl line moved over on the bumper. It is such a small ridge. Some sanding and bondo work will have it looking good. If this is what GM meant by "the zl1 bumper is not compatible with non zl1 cars" then we are getting off pretty easy!! The fender and hood lines fit fine!!!

And for guys that want to run an aftermarket hood, Like you said all the hood makers will make hood for the ZL1. Its 11/2 per side, and is easy to fix. Quote:
