It makes no sense to me, Scott...none at all.
This is a valid question IMO. Forgive me if this is common knowledge, but what color at the plant, if any, were sacrificed in order to make SGM possible?

Well, I am not a decision-maker at GM,(just a lowly autobody shop owner and painter and former art and color commercial art guy) but from what I recall, Aqua Blue Metallic (an original color choice in model year one) was canned in favor of Synergy Green Metallic. I was intrigued by the SGM color so much, I kept scouting local dealers until one showed up in my area, then went down to see it in person. Did I buy one? No. But I was impressed that GM made such a bold color choice for once! Hello? Paging Mr Scott Settlemire....please forward the above commentary to the so-called "brass". Thankyou!

Actually Aqua Blue was not nixed in favor of SGM. Aqua blue was canned because sales were under their preset number (2% i believe) for discontinuation.
From what I read Scott say the plant was already 1 color over capacity so they had to get rid of one color permanently since ABM was the least selling it was removed from the line up. SGM was meant to be a specialty limited color. My understanding was that their fates were not intertwined.

So then the question remains, how were they able to accommodate a limited run of SGM if the plant was at color capacity?

From what I have read.
They have room for specialty limited colors. If they kept the ABM it would have reduced a slot for a specialty color like SGM I guess. Not sure how it all works there, but my point is that ABM was not axed because of SGM, I am pretty sure thats what FBODFATHER and others have said. If I had time to go back many months ago to find his post, I would, but that was well over a year ago.

It may also have to do with an internal GM policy, that they only offer 8 standard colors max per model, and they were running 9? That I am not 100% sure on.

Either way, like I said earlier too, they are doing something right, they outsell mustangs! Why change what works? but again, I do like bold colors, that's why I am one of the very few ABM's

I liked IBM but it was time for a replacement. It would be much appreciated by me and probably everybody else if they would make room for GS Blue. I'm still saving for my fifth gen and would be willing to pay extra for this color.

...And the question still remains as you stated...until we hear from Mr. Settlemire, I guess. If they want to run another specialty color like SGM, then let's lobby for another "heritage" color like LeMans Blue, or Mulsanne Blue, or even good old Marina Blue...heck....ANY BLUE AT THIS POINT!!!!!!!

Obviously a good medium-blue metallic color sells, or we wouldn't see it featured on so many other "enthusiast cars", like the new Beetle. IMO, it flat out showcases the lines of any car far better than any other color. ABM never got a chance on the first run, and was killed right when the cars were hitting the streets...Guaranteed, it would've become one of the top selling colors, given the chance. Just ask anyone who has ABM about all the positive comments they've gotten. Too bad Camaro paint options are so hamstrung by the other car lines sharing the same paint line....Seems like it might be high time for GM to add another paint line or two in Oshawa.

Oh, I am relaxed. Unfortunately, I see some old ways creeping into GM. In any event, There are still Ford and Chrysler to choose from, if The General goes too far astray.

Will an ABM Camaro get more money when traded? I don't think so. I think if you sell privately you may get a better price from someone looking for blue. I just put in my order for the ZL1. Victory Red is my alternate. I would have preferred the ABM though. I'm old school and my first one was blue. For those of us who have had blue we tend to appreciate it more, but like Fbod father said, there will be other colors. I'm sure I'll enjoy the red as well. Regards.
