So having stripes ordered that are factory installed, does this delay or take a little longer for your car verses a car without? Srry if it has been answered before

Smile Good news!!

I was told by a friend that my dealer had a 2010 Black v6 Camaro parked out front. (Their show car). I was told they had it since Friday 17th. Now you think they would call me knowing I'm the first person to have ordered one out of Two customers. Anyway I go up there and got to sit in one. I'm 6ft1 225 lbs and there was plenty of room. Took a little to get use to getting in and out of the car though. Not use to getting in a low car I guess. Just FYI if anyone is planning on having anyone to ride the back seat forget it its real tight!!! Anyway as I was there my dealer told me my car was built on 4/16 I got a vin# and he told me my car should be here no later then May 9th!!!! Is there anything I should do before I get the car? Like call my insurance company can I go for my loan and can I find out my final price before the car comes in?? Any help would be great!! Thanks...

Cool video! I have a lot of respect for the CTS-V.

Honestly, I can't see why it wouldn't. This is all just supposition on my part but my thought is that there's basically an extra step involved. When a non-striped car is done, there's nothing left to be done except ship. But if a car needs stripes, it has to go to the upfitter, get stripes, and go back to the main plant for shipment. If two cars came off the line at the same time, I can't imagine them holding the first car til the other one gets back. That doesn't mean that they always take longer. Depending on shipping schedules, rail timing, etc, the stripe car could get there quicker for all we know. I don't know how long the striping takes, maybe less than a day? Maybe a couple days? Who knows...

Your post makes complete sense, im just hoping it doesnt make it take too much longer I was hoping to have it out by Prom, But with a May 4th build date now and Prom on the 29th, i dont see that happening anymore. Well there are pics of transports holding cars with stripes, so theres little hope, maybe those were some of the first off the line, but i wouldnt know. Thanks for the answer UCF, i think im going to find some sources that i know and get them to find the details.

Thumbs up

Cool site guys. I have been checking it out every day. I work at a Chevy Dealership and we just got our first VIN. Built on the 17th this month. Tracking claims that eta should be on the 28th. Cant wait to see it. I hope it's as cool in person as the photos.

Either heinz or UCF, could you do me a huge favor and possibly get some more detail on a car shipped to my dealership. Sterling Chevrolet in Sterling, VA has one build Camaro but all it says is 2SS...if you could give me a color, either exterior or interior I would be happy.

There's really no secret to it.

and

As you can see, neither show any info at the moment. You'd have to have your dealer (or another one) look it up.

Hey everyone! My 2LT/RS IBM has SIM stripes and has been at a 3000 Event Code for almost a month now(on the 23rd it will be a month). Does anyone have any ideas at why it's staying at a 3000 Event Code for so long?

Also I would like to add that my dad has a 2SS/RS RJT with SIM stripes as well. We both ordered on October 13th, it took my dad 3 weeks after mine to get to a 3000 Event Code status as well. Is it possible that they will be building both cars at the same time so they could ship them both out to the dealership at the same time? Or am I wrong by just feeling that this is just a coincidence?

No. Did the dealership submit both at the same time (from 1100 to 2000)? Doesn't sound like it. I HIGHLY doubt that the plant is holding one for the other. The cars will move on rail with other cars from Oshawa to regional centers (I think Michigan) and then probably somewhere in the southeast and then to a rail center near you where the car will be loaded onto a truck with other vehicles for local dealers to be delivered. It's not like they send only a train of Camaros and only load Camaros onto the truck. Chances are your car will arrive 3 weeks (or so) before your dad's. Of course this is by no means certain. It's possible but highly unlikely that your dad's could get there before yours. I wouldn't toss anything out the window at this point. Some cars sat at 3400 for almost a month. Oh and make sure your dealer is checking the event history page, not just the current order status page. The history page updates more often than some of the others.

Ok I will do that. Thanks a lot UCF. Keep up what you have been doing. It's great info.

It looks like a bunch of V6's are showing up on the list this week. Are these the 'one-per-dealer' cars?
