Actually both JBA and DT are pending CARB. But as long as the smog guys aren't d!ck heads and want to see that CARB stamp, you'll pass visual. I'm wondering though if because ARH got theirs carb legal if DT and JBA might be able to bandwagon onto that cert somehow... Be interesting to see if they become carb legal.

+1

I posted something very similar, people just want to jump in and put in their little 2 cents saying LT are better, although the post/forum is strictly for shorties and information about shorties and has everything to do with shorties and we ask not to bash shorties and we kindly ask to shut the eff up about LT. I had to jump down someones throat as well with it, so I completely back you up and have the dyno to prove shorties make power in the grand scheme. By themselves, I am pretty much convinced they do nothing, but after a few other mods to increase airflow, they make power. I jumped 30-40hp with cai, tb, shorties and cat back. Tune only gave me 2hp, but we didn't fully adjust everything, just the little knock retard the engine was having. To that dude that thinks you need LT for FI... Yeah your full of sh*t. 2002 Pontiac GTO fully supercharged (meaning with a true cold air intake) on a stock engine, and those do not come with any type of headers. Pushing 512hp at the crank, owner is my buddies dad, Jeff from riverside ca. 1968 camaro 327 4 bolt main, shorties, blown as well, Davis from riverside ca. Ford lightning supercharged stock, no headers. ZL1 supercharged no headers, Cadillac CTS-V supercharged no headers. You don't need headers for a supercharged engine, BUT it does increase airflow and potential power gain.

no worries,

and i guess ill go with either jba or dt, depending on who gets CARB. already got a cai, and planning on getting a vmax tb, so hopefully the shorties will be worth it

Keep an eye on the member classified section, good deals on used shorties pop up every now and then.

if JBA and DT are not carb yet...i wouldnt hold your breath. they have been out out for almost as long as the 5th gen has been out. so its hard to say how long it would be. In all honesty most shorties wont raise any red flags here. its the cats that will, but Gm in a genius design made the cats able to be bolted on or off. ARH say they are legal now but $$$ seems a bit much for me. keep us updated and let us know

I had my SS in one of the CARB labs for EO approval of the FAST LSXR intake back around July/August. I asked him about the JBA CARB application and he explained it was taking a while because they were looking for a blanket cert based on prior testing. Meaning, there's a provision that if numerous identical designs have been previously submitted, and they all tested good for no negative effect on emmisions, you can get an exemption based on that (without sending cars through cert with the actual part bolted on). I'm in the same boat. I had a blower on my '97 TA, and I loved my JBA headers with JetHot hi-temp coating.

If any of you guys in SoCal do end up selling your shorties, I'm interested in them.
