Sad commentary of American youth. It's caused by the "me-me" selfish entitlement mentality that is so prevalent today. No iPad now? Welfare tomorrow.

First off I'm only 24, but I feel as though I'm one of the last of the 'common sense' 'earn your way' generation. I think my age group was the last to grow up in our early years without the internet and honestly I think it plays a role.

Because kids these days grow up with technology planted in their brains, they always feel they need/deserve/'are supposed to have' the latest and greatest. This coupled with the speed at which technology changes results in only three things - Broke Parents (who give in), spoiled kids, and rich companies.

Shit, I remember when my parents would yell at me if I tried to bring my cd player out of the car if we were going someplace where it would've been impolite to have it. Apparently that lesson escapes parents these days.

Scary part is I'll be living in their world in a short time. More reason to live it up now

If I used twitter, I would troll every single one of those kids for the next month straight.

I am 36, my first car was a 85' LeBaron, I got home from school and it was in the driveway. My mom said here you go if you don't like it you can freaking walk. I will pay your insurance and gas for 6 months (rest of the school year) then you get a job. I was grateful to have a car even if it was 6 different colors. I was also told first speeding ticket you get or if someone catches you without your seat belt on the keys are mine period!

My daughter is 4 and we are raising her the same way I was, I pray we do a good enough jobs as parents not for her to end up like those little craps.

I still use a flip phone. LOL When people ask me why I don't have a smartphone, I tell them, "I was too busy saving up for a f*cking Camaro."

Plus christmas isn't about gifts but the celebrating christ.
Sadly, to many people have lost the true meaning of CHRISTmas. It isn't the gifts you could get but the gift that was already given.

Just goes to show you how out of touch we are about the idea of Christmas and what it stands for. I was fortunate enough to have it brought to light by going to midnight mass with my girlfriend for the first time! I am NOT a religous person and certainly not Catholic but it was good to hear and see the TRUE meaning of the holiday and refresh the ideals behind it. Kind of made it a special day and was a major difference being out at church till 2 a.m. rather than out drinking
