Tom & Scott, Please both of you guys put your arms around "mom" Settlemire & the rest of your families & hold them alittle tighter.
Hold on to the memories you have with those who have passed from this life & make more with the ones that are still here. May all the great men in your family, be very proud at the men you have become. |

I remember when I first met Mr Henry. I was standing in the showroom drooling over a 2001 orange metalic Silverado extended cab. After speaking on a number of occasions with the sales dept I had to come to terms with the fact I just could not afford this beautiful truck. Interestingly enough I was also admiring a 2001 sunset orange 435 THR SS which was parked close by. The only people I knew at the dealership were the service department staff. I did notice a kindly looking older man looking at me. He walked over to me and asked how I was today. I took him as another customer waiting for his car. I answered back that I was waiting for my truck to be finished with service and was admiring the cars in the showroom. We spent the next half hour or so talking about everything car related. Cars we owned. Places we worked. Things we had seen change over the years. I spent eleven years working in the Pittsburgh area for three different dealerships before moving on to work in the emergency services. He told me he admired the work I did and said it takes a strength that most people dont have. I thanked him for his kind words. I remember the kindness in his eyes. Someone you could not help but like. He then said he saw me looking at the orange truck. "Its a good lookin truck" he said. Will that be your next one he asked? I told him I would love to but the numbers are not in my favor. He asked what I ment by that. I explained that I dont usually get unrealistic about vehicles. If I cant afford it I wont waste anyones time barganing. He told me that he thought that I was a good match for that truck.
My truck was done and we parted ways saying how much we enjoyed spending the time to talk. I paid my bill in the service dept when a sales rep came in and asked me to stop in before I left. I asked why and he told me the sales manager wanted to see me. Being curious I went to see the manager before I left. Once there, the manager asked me to sit down. I told him I was confused as to why he needed to see me. He said "Its about the Silverado you like". What about it...I cant afford it I said to him. His reply to me was not what I expected. "I was told to make sure you were able to drive that truck home" he said. I asked by who. He said why by Mr Henry, the man you were speaking with. I could not believe it but soon I did have my new truck. Over the years since I really loved talking with Mr Henry whenever the chance presented itself. It was not long until I became friends with his son Tom and everyone else in the dealership. My wife and I have purchased a number of vehicles from Tom Henry since that day. They are really great people. Like family. I will really miss Mr Henry. For those of you who have had the chance to meet Tom Henry or Scott Settlemire you have also met Mr Henry. The same qualities and values are shared between them. I can see alot of Mr Henry in them both Tom and Scott. I am very honored to know them all and consider myself very fortunate to have met Mr Henry. I wish I would have taken the time to know Mr Henry better over the years. But for what I did know of Mr Henry I will say he added something special to my life and will not forget him. Sincerely John Sherbak Gibsonia, Pa Last edited by quickmedic1; 08-17-2010 at 12:41 PM. |
