As I understand it from watching the video clips on the radio system for the car, it takes the intellegence from whatever unit you have plugged in. Meaning for an ipod hooked up you would have access to Ipod's features such as random shuffling (enable/disable), playlists, etc. But with a usb stick since it has no intellgence I think your stuck with hearing the music in sequential order. So although it would be awesome to not have to worry about dragging your ipod around and just keep a cheap usb stick in the car all the time, I think the disadvantage would be no access to playlists, no randomizer, etc.

There's not a lot of information that I've seen, but we may not be stuck with sequential order with the USB stick. The system may be able to search (especially if the mp3's are tagged with artist/album/genre type data) and to recognize playlist files.

It's all good. I played with it last night. It will recognize any playlists (folders) you have on your flashdrives. Also has the option of random play.

So a flash drive will work, but how about a portable external hard drive? Will the system support a 500GB USB 2.0 drive?

I agree. Pick up a $50 dollar thing the size of a key chain and get your 10 year old kid to show you how to load every song you ever want to listen onto it. Plug it into your car and no need to ever worry about skipping over bumps, scratched or lost CD's! To top it all off, your songs are played on a top of the line audio system.

If you can play MP3's off it when it is attached to your PC through the USB post then yes. Why would you want that?

This car just keeps getting better. I don't think I will ever learn all the gadgets, bells and whistles.
