Well, that statement comes from times when euro-to-dollar exchange rate was a bit different

Well they are a-coming! Just found out that the dealer I'm going for is to take delivery of their very first new Camaro at the beginning of June! Guess who's going to be camping outside

In France the co2 tax is just for the new cars.
As far as I know, the only tax we will have to pay for France will be the 20% custom tax.

As you said, Co2 tax is for new cars. Yuo will want to registrate your camaro as a used car, you'll be able to descrease its value by 10k and then pay 20¨taxes on 10k less.

I trully hope the maro won't be imported officially, the price would be huge.

Anyway, anyhow, if the camaro is offically imported, it won't be badged SS.

Please tell us the price he will be selling it then : ). Can't wait to have an idea about that, the prices I find here in France do change a lot from importer to importer. (sometimes with even a 10.000 Euros difference), way too much for me.

For what I could read about that matter, in fact Chevy would better choose the SS version if they finally decide to import it, in order to change their cheap brand image they have in Europe. (Which is not so good news for me, as I would be more interested in a LS/LT version, 400 hp is way too much for me I'm afraid). I think the best they could do would be importing the two versions.

And concerning the price, I am not as sure as you are. Look a the newly arrived Cruze : the cheaper of its category in France, with remarkable quality critics in the media nevertheless. And this is no Daewoo car, I think.

They have it listed for 545 000 Swedish Crownes = roughly 50 000 Euro. They one they're getting first is a 2SS/RS with a sunroof (seriously, this dealer has to stop with this crap of taking in only muscle cars with sunroofs, it's terrible for a guy of my height!) and I think toned windows so that gives you some of the price.

And dude what the hell, you have the Cruze in France? Chevrolet Sweden sucks :(

Yep, here's the link (got to speak french, sorry...) :

http://www.chevrolet.fr/cruze/cruze-index.html

But take a look at the prices, they're just awsome. Remember that in France, prices are always Tax included.
This is just the cheapest car of its category with all that options in it.
Nobody really talks about it around here, because of the lame brand image Chevy has in our country. Hope Camaro will change that.

When I asked some representatives of Chevy in the last World Car fair in Paris about the possibility of getting the Camaro in France, they told me they were planning to send it here begining of 2010. I can wait. Until then, even if they finally don't, I am quite confident the prices on imported Camaros will be cheaper after the first rush.

Whatever happens, this car is mine. It's like a love story. I just can't explain why. But this car just "talks" to me, as we say in France. For me, this is just what a car should be. Sooner or later. My wife doesn't say "never" anymore. She's starting to say : "Whenever". Which means she's getting used to the idea lol.

Aw man, why can't we get that? Seriously they don't even try with Chevy here! They should get the Cruze, the Malibu, the Volt and especially the Camaro!

I don't know about the Malibu, but I'm quite confident we'll get the Volt sooner or later in Europe, even if it's in its Opel version they presented recently (and which is really close to the American original).

I was very interested in the Volt when I discovered the Camaro. Now I know that the gas I'll save with the Volt, I will consume with the Camaro lol.

I recently bought the book on the Camaro and, in an interview with its writer, the guys who engineered it say that they thought of it as a global car that should be sold in Europe, Asia and Australia. Another reason to hope !

Mon ami,

I'm not pretty sure there will be a market for 'maros in France. C'mon, we are almost as stupid as californians with their^Prius ...

Talking about the price, I'm not sure we can compare to the Cruze which is a car supposed to be widely sold and Chevy expecting huge scale savings ...

I've found some guys who are specialisez in importing US cars as a "hobby" ... meaning pretty cheap.

Anyway, anyhow, you'll get the car before me coz' 420 HP is way too low for me. I'm targeting the said Z28. If any the Z28 is aborted, I'll go on an SS, but late

ps: you've probably seen just like me the "SS" badging being removed n the SS in Paris Auto Show. I guess they won't sell a SS badged car with regards to the historical "SS" background in Europe. thus I'll be forced to import myself coz I want:
SS badging (if no Z28) AND american lights (4 reds on da back)

I don't know, I really think there's a hard trend in lowering car prices around here, even for sports car, even if, like you, I'm quite sure there's not a really huge market in Europe for a Ponycar or a Muscle car. They have a philosophy which is quite different from our European way of thinking of a sportscar. For me, buying a Camaro means buying a bit of the american dream. US will always be the land of cars, even if we have beautiful pieces of arts and masterworks in our own automotive industry in Europe. Us cars lack of what we would call "charme" here, but, man, they sure are beasts.

About the green way of thinking, which I quite understand by the way (but let us not get into a political thing here), I'm afraid that after 4x4's, the next cars jalous and pseudo-ecological assholes will be ruining with key marks will be sportscars. So let's hide them from them ! They don't have the singlest clue that our modern sportscar suck much less gas than their old Volkswagen Combi. (Or maybe they just don't wanna see it).

Hey, I didn't even notice they took out the SS badging in Paris ! I had to check the pictures I took to see that ! Man, you sure have an eye for details ! And you may be right, a car with an SS badging in France or Germany would quickly get tagged, if not worse ! Even the Punto supersport by Abarth is called "esseesse". Lol !
About SS badging, why don't you just wait to see if they import the car themselves (so you can compare prices) and then just get the "SS" badge imported lol : loads of money saved here !

And sorry about the "mon ami" thing, sounds like Gambit in Xmen, those american guys around here will end thinking we really DO speak like this in France... Didn't mean to be meany or anything, just cool to see other Frenchies are in love with that ride. But you sure are sportier than me, I'm just crazy for the lines of this one, its mean looks. Modern Christine, in my opinion.

lol!! No problem dude!!

Removing the SS badging is the first thing i've seen!! Anyway, I want 550+HP under mey hood, getting an SS would be a "forced" choice.

You may be right, but I do think I can import my car for less than an offically imported one (tax tricks such as declaring the car as used of even as an accidented one).

I'll have time to think about it until a possible Z28. Maybe I'll see your V6 around before that!

Not a Chevy dealer actually, Import dealer. They have a good report with GM though, first in the country with a new Malibu.
