Aftermarket Stripes Stencils

I'm getting my stripes painted on after I get my camaro. I don't like the way the decal stripes look so I want them painted like the concept camaro stripes, like bumblebee in Transformers. But all I have to give to my body shop are some pictures off the internet and just eyeballing what features the stripes line up with. Does anybody know if you can get a stencil of those stripes, or if you can at least get some dimensions from somewhere?

yeah stencils would be cool. I want to get my hood and hockey stripes painted as well.

Good Question, I am highly considering having full Rally Stripes painted on mine as well, and was wondering the same thing, among others ut I will wait to post my own thread and not hijack this one... I hope someone has some answers for us.

Ok this is what we did for our 95 Camaro. This is PAINTED ON


We took the car in to the body shop with a poster (one that we picked up at a show.)& told them thats the strip package we wanted on the car. They hand did it showed us how it looked then Painted it on.

at the show where this pic was taken at the guy who did the paint job came over & was happy we were happy with it since he didnt see the finished car.

Then after they finish the pain job they keep the design.

I have been researching wraps too. You can do some amazing stuff with it. And it using computer files to generate a wrap for the vehicle.

Oh well I guess that should be a Wrap thread.

I'm hoping for some dimensions to give my painter with some pictures also. I was thinking about using the same hood dimensions as the vinyl, but just extending it further to the front if I go rally. But I have no idea how to measure anything if I go hockey, so a stencil would be needed. Although, if you just get a few critical dimensions the hockey stripe somewhat follows the natural lines of the sheet metal.
Do the factory stripes come on a backing? If so we could use the backing as a stencil for the tape edges for the rally, and just get a few critical dimensions for locating the hockey stencil.

Wraps are great for advertising, not for customizing. That is basically a self adhesive vinyl printed by a massive inkjet printer, then adhered to the car. In most cases some of the pieces get cut on the actual vehicle and leave cut marks. Not recommended, and they have no finish on them like paint and start to look like crap after a year or so.

I know because I am in the Printing / Large Format Printing business.

Thats a good idea. I personally don't like the shape of the factory stripes though, I don't like how they curl inward towards the front of the hood. I want my stripes to be the same width all the way down the car.
