I've never had the traction control off and I'd HATE to crash my car.

Don't worry and have fun! I tried to use launch control at Firebird and it was a total failure since I didn't mat the pedal quick enough. Just practice driving around with the nannies off. With a stock tune, it really kills the performance. I didn't know what I was doing at Firebird and got a 13.6 @ 104 mph with a 0.56 reaction time. It was in the mid 90s at Camarofest II so I'm sure I can do a lot better and the headers/cam can't hurt. If you have a manual, its tough to judge the tree and its probably best to start on the 1st or 2nd yellow. They go fast!

What time does the track open? I may be in.

Gates open at 10. Should start running between 11 & 12.

Hi guys,
I thought I'd ask this on the local thread too, since I've been able to meet up with a few of you in the past. I could use your expert opinions on how to finish my exhaust setup. Here's my current configuration:
OBX LT's (let's avoid the bashing here please)
Off-Road Mid-Pipes (no cats)
Stock LS3 Cat-Back
JRE Tune

Here are my goals:
Want cats to be emissions-legal and avoid exhaust smell my wife hates
Want cat-back/mids setup with no drone

So far, I have considered the Doug Thorley cat-back, as that seems to be an affordable solution, but I'm not sure what to do with the mids. I'd prefer something I can bolt on myself over having to weld on generic cats.

Any suggestions are much appreciated, and I'd love to know what you guys are running on your cars. Thanks!

Mine's certainly not set up for racing, but I can tell you the Solo Performance Cat-back with J-pipes is a great open-flow system. There are no mufflers, but the J-pipes absorb the resonation during highway speeds so there's no drone. Just plenty of sound when you step on it. They also have high-flow cats available that they should be able to set up between your LT's and this system.

We usually have several different exhaust setups you can see and hear at the monthly club meetings. Next one is 12 Jan at Watson Chevrolet.

Hey guys,
I just wanted to say that if you're looking for factory parts, Maureen at Rodgers Chevrolet in MI can work wonders. I got a price for a painted heritage grille from her that no one at Watson (where I bought the car in Nov 2009) could match, and that included taxes, shipping, and a bag full of free stuff. So, if you're in the market, see what she can do.

Don't know much about OBX, but they should offer a high flo cat that will bolt up to the stock exhaust. My setup with stock exhaust is loud when on it, but is pleasant with zero drone with cruising, Having a blast with the JRE 470 cam setup, but the tire budget needs to be increase.
