yes. You MUST install it unless you don't mind the rattling.

Didn't install mine either,...if you do, even hurst says the "feel" won't be the same...what little "noise" there is, you can stop by just keeping hand on the shifter between gears...you'll love it!

I didn't install it either. Actually, have not noticed any rattling issues with my car.

This is how mine is. I Installed mine but not the part that goes on the shifter handle.

Wasn't available when I got mine. I did put some Dynomat on the linkage that I could get to though. Rattles a little under load in 3rd but not enough to warrant taking that damn dust boot off again!

Didn't install. Only get spittle noise when getting on it in 3rd. Not enough to bother me.

Yeah, it annoyed me a little the first time I tested it right after I installed it, but I didn't have my hand on the shifter at the time. Like you, I pretty much keep my hand on it until I get to whatever gear I'm heading for, and it only does it during a hard acceleration, so I left it.

wow, the power of the forums is great!

I developed a little rattle and was trying to figure out what it was, was begining to worry me. Coincidentally it started right after I had the shifter installed and it only does it under load.

I'm confident that it's the lack of "noise reduction/vibration kit" installation that's doing it... guess I need to revisit that.

Yep, they originally didn't have that kit in with the shifter, but they got enough complaints to start including it.
