OK, but would suck if they did not know they should edit and it cancels.

It looks like many will be forced to do this or they will lose their allocation. But what is the exposed insert going to cost when ordered seperately, $1000, $1500, $2000? Why should the customer be forced to shell out all that extra money? Plus, I know for myself personally, I prefer to have the option listed on the build sheet (not going to lose my 2012 allocation over it though).

I'm still at 2030, so I have my fingers crossed that GM can resolve this before my order is pulled. I'm not optimistic, we'll see though.

Sure would be nice if GM provided a little customer service like this instead of just telling customers that they have to shell out full price for the service part.

My dealer just emailed me and said the following:

Your car is assigned to production already and is not impacted by this weeks constraints. Your ZL1 will be built with the carbon fiber insert and the gray stripe.

This could be great news for people at 3000 if GM had initial supply of the exposed CF Insert and Gray Stripe. Anyone have information to the contrary or to support the information?

Thanks

Hopefully for the 2012 model --

We're just as unhappy as you are --

1......we make money on options!

but more importantly...

2.....it upsets you, the customer.

However, we simply won't compromise by shipping cars with something that we feel is not correct........so until we're confident, we must remove the option --

I would say this supports it.

An issue has developed with the 2012 Camaro ZL1 optional Exposed Carbon Fiber Weave Hood Insert (RPO: B92) that requires Chevrolet to place a "zero availability" constraint on this option. The constraint will be in place for this week's 2012 ZL1 exclusive Dealer Order Submission Process (DOSP) cycle (Thursday, January 5 through Tuesday, January 10, 2012).
But again I am biased because I am at 3000 and have the ECF on my order. I already changed from IBM lol. I remember that the B92 was not on option list before. Good luck to all that wanted the B92.

Thanks fbodfather but what about the cars that are at 3000 and already committed to production? My dealer said he was not notified. Was there supply for those cars?

From the comments below, it appears that the answer to your question is no, and that no early production 2012 ZL1s will have the exposed carbon fiber hood insert.

We are working through issues with this option and it will eventually be available both as an orderable option - or as a Service Part (meaning that you can have it installed at a later date).

While we regret that we can't offer it at Start of Production ...

Sounds like the carbon fiber is not being offered at this time. Untill they feel its ready for production it will not be offered. If it becomes a safety issue (I'm not saying it is), then it's unrealistic to expect in production at
this time. Hopefully this will be available soon, since this is one option I had wanted as well. I'm just happy I'm at 2030 and not 3000 status.

Actually those of us that hit 3000 first (Mid Dec) are good to go. Our orders will be filled with the B92 Exposed Carbon option if we choose it, as the orders were already picked up for production and parts were allocated. This affects those who were not at 3000 as of yesterday and on.

Thus, you may want to discuss this with your dealer and remove the option for now."

THat sounds to me that none of the initial orders will get it, and other ifo looks like those that leave that part in their order risk delay or cancellation.

I dont KNOW, but for safety sake for you, I would ask my dealer to make triple sure.
Yes, those of us who were at 3000 on 12/20 are good to go. My dealer called GM Direct to confirm. Those who were at 3000 before the 4th of January are good to go as the parts were already allocated for those vehicles.

Basically that is what my dealer said and they are great to work with and on top of issues.

Did you get confirmation from GM or is that an assumption from your dealer? If GM had exposed inserts that passed QA for the cars that were already at 3000 and a new shipment of inserts came in that were bad then it could be true that they will be produced as orderd/accepted. If all of the inserts in stock were affected then how and when would the dealers be notified a change is needed on cars that were accepted for production with the exposed inserts?
