hmmm maybe I'll just slap on a ZL1 front and back bumpers and hood on my SS for now until "she who writes the checks" gives the greenlight on the ZL1.

Doesn't matter to me if it's a real one or fake one if you like the body on the ZL1 go for it, buy the parts from GM. I'd say it's better than cutting holes in your stock bumper to have a similar look. As for GM selling the parts to non-ZL1 owners I guess corporations will do anything to make a buck these days.

Actually it's a lot more than that, but you are off to a good start. It's still a Camaro, correct, but it's more than just the few upgrades you mentioned.

I'm pretty sure he's aware of that. I think it's funny though, that some of the same people who declared the past GT500's as being nothing more that a Mustang GT with a bigger engine are now in the position of defending the ZL1 against the same commentary years later. (Not directed at you Shurenuff.)

Where can I get a bolt on aero package tested in the wind tunnel? You would have to buy EVERY ZL1 component open to the air to assure the aero performance guaranteed by the ZL1. This includes the obvious, but also the under tray, wheels, brake cooling ducts, etc… Where can I get bolt on (active or inactive) suspension tuned to the car? Hours upon hours of suspension tuning went into the ZL1… where can I get aftermarket suspension pre-tuned to my specific car (tires, weight distribution, aero…)? Where can I buy PTM? And how do I tune this to the rest of the car? Anyone, given enough time and money, can come up with a great car made of aftermarket components. The key is TIME and MONEY. If that is your hobby, great – buy a data system and start the trial and error process. Hopefully you are versatile enough to be an engineer, driver, etc. all in one. The ZL1 is a package handed over to you – more than an engine package, more than an appearance package, etc. It is a proven system that works together. I’m not trying to imply that there aren’t other cars out there that offer the same complete package, but not other Camaros. Some will have more power, some will be faster at the drag strip, but not many will offer the refined package of the ZL1 for the cost. I personally don’t care if people bolt-on parts from the ZL1 onto their Camaro, the full performance benefits will never be realized as they will be with a stock ZL1.
