LT1 or LS1? I would say any LS1 will eat you alive, may be able to give an LT1 a run, especially the first few years.

Huffer SS said it. His account was recently suspended for some reason.

They were in the 14's unless you had a really good driver and conditions.

In the 80s for some stang magazine a guy rented out atco raceway in the middle of winter. He pulled the spare/jack, pulled the air filter, and upped the timing. He ran some mid 13's I believe. From then on the mustang guys went nuts...even though real world times were a full second away from this.

They are slow, end of story... I knew of a bunch of cammed foxes that were still in the 13s! They only made what 225hp or something close, after a cam and full boltons they still were not that great! They did run pretty good on the street from a dig... sounded allot stonger then what they ran My stock LT1 with a muffler and intake would eat up those fox bodys all the time... An Ls1 car is going to destroy a fox 5.0.

LS1 will def. take you.

You will need a few more bolt-ons and a solid tune + tires to keep up with one.

An LT1 you would have a better shot at, however, the edge would still go to the LT1 at your current power levels.

I grew up on GM muscle cars and I loathed 5.0L Fox bodies when I was hitting the streets with my 67 Camaro w/ a stalled and geared ZZ4. 15 years later I find myself reading MM&FF and was surprised with their build up on a strictly basics carb'd 5.0L.

Good reading if anybody wants to educate them self on one of the most successful drag racing platforms.

Now day's I'd rather have a clean notch over a LT1 4th gen. I guess the kool-aid is wearing off as I mature.

I'm gonna guess a stock LS1 will still show you it's tails.

Did you do more mods? Just a few weeks ago you was asking if you could take a Camaro V6 and the concensus was that it would be close with some leaning towards the V6 on top end.

Now your wondering if you can take a 4th gen SS? I say LT1 maybe...LS1 nope.

No just seeing where my car might stand against a 4 the Gen being LT or LS. So I know what would be a good race or not at the track. Not trying to be a pain to any one. Just catering info is all.

I have an idea that will put any stock 4th gen or 5th gen for that matter to shame. Do an LSX conversion. Its actually more popular than you think and even a mild LSX motor would get you kicked off a track for running too fast without a cage.
