I just put a RPS Twin Carbon Clutch in the car. And that's all. I have been trying for many hours now to get the damn transmission mated back up with the engine with no success. I have twisted, turned, lifted, lowered, cursed and everything else and I can't get the transmission to go that last inch to mate with the engine. Aligned and bolted down the clutch with alignment tool in place. Able tool put the tool in and out of the clutch with the transmission out of the way though it is snug. The transmission input shaft seems to mate with the clutch plates but comes up short of going into the pilot bearing.
![]() Looking for any suggestions/recommendation here because I am about to get my .45 and plunk hole in something. Could the alignment between the clutch pack and the pilot be off ever so slight? Dont want to try the old cinch it down with bellhousing bolts. Thanks in advance. Travis

1. Very smart for not drawing it together!!
2. Now that you have walked away from it, and it pissed you off, go try it and it will fall together. Is it hanging up on dowel pins, or something hanging down in front of the housing? |

I yeah I walked away from it last night and tried again today. I have gone around every inch of the housing and there is nothing in the way. Dowel pins might be PART of the problem though I got so far as they were started in but that's it. I'm wondering if maybe the clutch discs are ever so slightly of center from the pilot bearing. I mean the alignment tool will go in all the way but it is tight. Maybe that little bit of difference with an input shaft is causing it to hang up. I don't know. THink I am going to pull the whole thing out tomorrow, disassemble the clutch, and realign it. Just a real bugger to get the transmission out. Thanks for the feedback though.

More than likely an alignment issue with the clutch. That being said a warning to be carefull allowing the trans weight to be hung in the discs, they can be slightly warped causing disengagement issues later. Good luck to you.

Is it a new pilot bearing or the stock one. Did you try twisting the output shaft/ yoke as you pushed in? When I did mine ECS sent me an actual metal input shaft from an old tranny. Sometimes the plastic one can bend a little and have the alignment off just enough.

connect the slave cylinder. Sometimes they can "hydrolock" and you will never get them in because the slave will not compress. If not, loosen the bleeder.
Itll go in, and the clutch will totally transform the car |

Thanks for the input folks. Finally got it in today. Stepped away from it until this afternoon and then went back at it. I was fairly positive I had the input shaft through all the clutch discs. Just couldn't get it that last inch or less. Well went back out today just started the bottom two bolts. Messed around a bit with transmission jack to adjust the height and the left right. Just start working it in until finally iit just seated. Put the the new MGW shifter in, bled the clutch, double checked everything was cinched down, then through the mid-pipes back in. Car fired and clutch pedal is firm, worked it in out several times while in neutral, checked for leaks and listened any chatter or unusual noises. Nothing so far. Didn't work the gears because the car is still up in the air on cribbing blocks and if something is goofy don't want it lurching off.
Tomorrow I put the new Pfadt rear end links, SJM Line Lock, and Raptor Shift Light in then go for a test drive. I can definitely feel more pedal pressure is required for the the RPS clutch than the stock and the release is different as it doesn't have the heavy release right at the end of the travel like the stocker. Looks like I'll be learning to drive the car again. Hoping the wife got enough good pictures for us to put together a DIY for everyone since there doesn't seem to be one yet. More to follow on that.

Test drive sat. No NVR. Feels like it is holding the power much better. Clutch is completely different feel than stocker with steady pressure throughout the travel unlike the cammed release of stocker. MGW shifter is solid improvement over the Hurst as well.

Had the same problem installing my transmission; the engine has to be tilted backward as far as it will go with the engine mounts loose.
