Thatd be awesome! I am putting some headers on and getting an e85 tune. Will be north of 700 (guessing around 750whp), not sure how much exactly, but one huge item my car has a race weight of ~3600lbs, and its easily capable of 3500lbs with the IRS still in it! PM me if you make it out!

Im a big fan of Camaro and Mustangs. The ZL1 impressed me but really, the new GT500 is the target. Stepping back a bit now...hmmm lemme see...I don't give a phuck which is faster....I'll never use their potential and trying so will likely end in me in a ditch again.

Granted, different days and different conditions I'm sure but to put it in perspective, the 158,000, 2.9 second 0-60 Porsche 911 turbo, beat the zl1 by 2.49 seconds at ls. That is a hell of a lot of time but people are crying that we only beat the ford by 2.45 seconds. So in perspective, look what it takes to beat us by around that much...

It's funny how a thread that starts out with "ZL1 over hyped" morphs into debating Nissan GT-R times against Corvette ZR1 times and what tires vs what slicks would make a difference.
I say simply discussing the ZL1 in the same company as the above means it definitely delivers on all around performance!

People need a dose of reality on here. My god. I have a feeling the Zl-1 would have had to run with the GTR for people to give it any props. when the GRT is arguably the best deal on the planet in car terms righ now but it is still 95k which most poeple can't affaord.
this was the boss 302 laguna secca edition. For those who don't know it has no back seat. A special areo package with a custom spliter and horrible ground clearnce. so it is bascially a two seater and the car is 400lbs lighter and still lost to a car buy 2 seonds that drives nicer and has a back seat. The LS edition smashes the current GT500 around the track and runs the same 1/4 mile time. so none of this ohh the gt500 whould have done better bs. All that being said though it should it is 7-8k more. I am willing to pay that to have a practical car. I would keep my Z06 if I just wanted a fast two seater still. so basically the 2012 ZL-1 dominated the 2012 boss 302 and GT500 and it is over hyped. Look at the stopping distance. 108ft for 400lb car that is awesome. Now the Boss 302 LS and GT500 can both be had for less money but they are less car out of the box. So short story long all is as it should be. Just like when the 2013 GT500 comes out it should best the Zl-1 with all the bells and whistels but it will also cost more. so there in againl. all is as it should be. you pay more to go faster.

![]() Not to mention the Boss 302 Laguna Seca has been marked up from the beginning as a limited edition car. The lowest priced one on ebay right now has a buy it now of $53,995. This has been slowly coming down from $60,000+ since its inception. Not that the ZL1 is immune from dealer markup, but one can almost be had for the same price if purchased at MSRP.

People who are under-appreciating the ZL1 really have no clue. You just read/saw what you are getting, that is world-class performance for $54k MSRP! Sure, the '13 GT500 may very well beat it around the track but not without the options that come free on the ZL1. The comparo between the ZL1 and new GT500 will be very very telling and interesting.

Not over hyped soo much as a car of a different color. I think we all expected the ZL1 to have better straight line numbers? We knew after seeing the numbers at the ring the ZL1 was going to be a great track car, but the verdict was out on the straight line numbers. The numbers (GM GAVE) 0 to 60 was with rollout (makes the time better) and was very close to the CTS-V a luxury car, and the 1/4 mile did not break into the 11s. I thought the auto reviews would show improved 0 to 60 and 1/4 mile times. After the smoked cleared the ZL1 is a WORLD CLASS track car and good muscle car. I say good because its not much faster(if any) than the current GT500 in a straight line, but faster than the SRT8 Challenger.
