looking for a how to on license plate bracket removal.
Could someone point me into a direction of a "how to" for front license plate bracket removal? And also, where are the holes drilled? In the grill? or the actual painted bumper?

you'll need to drill out the head of the rivets, and yes they go through the painted bumper :(

Yeah. I'm interested in this also. I was gonna have a body shop locally do mine but they wanted almost 400 to drill them out sand down the bumper and repaint lol.

+1. Thanks for sharing that. So you just need to drill the rivet heads in the front of the bracket on the outside of the bumper right? and then push them through? There are also plastic brackets connecting from the plate bracket to the inside of the lower grille fyi. So a dremmel might be needed.

I drilled out the heads on the rivets and eventually they will come out...then take off bracket. I went to Autozone and bought Retainers (they are used usually in the interior to hold things up like upholstry I believe, they look like christmas trees) with a top side the size of a dime, painted them white and stuck them in the holes.
You can see that I no longer have the front plate and the rivets are barely noticeable Beats spending 100's of $ to get them filled, total cost was like $10 for paint (already had it) and the retainers with 10 mins of getting plate off and over night of drying on the painted retainers. Worth it! PS - My Camaro SS and my buddies '70 Chevelle that is about to become a Twin Turbo monster! |
