Sorry it doesn`t live up to all the hype. The boss is more impressive IMO with less motor.

Prepare for MAJOR upset and butt hurt when they test it against the new GT500.

Blue oval guys are gonna have a holiday with ZL1
Get a Mustang!!!!

For nearly 60k Dollars, you get a car that is not just great looking, but also nice in performing on the streets. I donīt know whatīs the point in getting 11secs for 1/4 mile but when driving home, you are loosing traction in every curve.

At least in Germany, you drive a lot of curvy roads and the Autobahn is the only "non-track place" you can really run this beast to itīs maximum. And also the Autobahn is full of curves, so I rather have an overall well-performing car than a straight-liner...

What GM did with the ZL1 is just fantastic. Please remember, this car performs better than many fantastic supercars in the world. For example faster than the SL65 AMG Black Series (Camaro ZL1 7:41.27 > Mercedes SL65 AMG Black Series 7:51.00) and a lot cheaper (60000 Dollar < 320000 EURO!)

So please, if you donīt like the car then it is your opinion and that's okay. But saying it doesnīt perform well is not true.

@fbodfather

Do you know if GM plans an official EU-Version of the ZL1? Since the Camaro has been introduced some moths ago here in Germany, there is probably the chance for it?

Thanks!
Dez

Then the GT500 should have no problem with tracks in either mode as the GT500 is already quite impressive when it comes to handling.
My analysis was relatively 'zoomed in' - speaking in terms of tenths of a second. I agree that the GT500 will handle well overall, but I think this is what you will find when comparing data to the ZL1.

And therefore he pointed out that it's not a reasonable comparison to compare that ZR1 run with the GT-R run which was on regular street tires without a roll cage.

He's right.
And the ZR1 wasn't on slicks - it was on DOT-approved OPTIONAL tires. Perhaps you can enlighten me to exactly how much, emperically, the cage added to the performance of ZL1, because it seems you have these actual numbers. Thanks for the condescension but perhaps you might rethink your statements...

Besides - I'm over comments made at the beginning of the week. I can move on, and so can Grabber as far as I can tell.

I knew this thread would turn into a fanboy cluster from both sides but as a camaro owner I was excited about the ZL1, not so much now.

ZL1 didn`t kill the Boss with NA 5.0 motor, yes it was faster but come on, that boss with a 5.0 NA is impressive. We can argue they got better times with boss on different days and will get better times with the ZL1 however it was not a huge victory to beat a stock NA 5.0 :(

And now because the Zl1 didnt blow the boss off the drag strip we now can say it was faster than the boss around the track. and the ZL1 was made to handle. There has been more threads locked, people banned, egos hurt over drag times. But now that doesn`t matter as the ZL1 is a handler.

So if the boss is close to the ZL1 and IF I am SAYING IF the 13 Gt500 is faster at both the track and drag strip. Where does that leave the ZL1 if it does get beat by the GT500?

Over hyped on here from GM and camaro nation? possibly

Another letter?

I'm on you with this one man. I couldn't agree more. That wus boss they put the ZL1 against with. Of course the ZL1 is gunna be faster. It has bigger and blown engine and not only that. The ZL1 had a much greater advantage than the Boss. The Boss only has a tweaked 5.0 from the GT's. The real test is with the GT500. And I personally think the ZL1 is far from coming out on top against the '13 GT500. JMHO.

But I would take the ZL1 than the GT500 any day.

I don't think the ZL1 is over hyped. I think it is spot on. Go GM! Many of us are still excited over the ZL1 and will continue to be no matter what people write in this thread. Moving on.... LOL

^^ Made my day in a thread of:

"IFS" and "What ifs" and "I Think"s and "I personally think"'s, and "but"'s, and "that's what matters" and "doesn't matter" and "i suspect" and "depends on" and "however"'s and "Depending on the track, the ZL1 should beat the GT500 by varying gaps depending on the characteristics described above"

HUH? I feel like the ALFAC Duck....... AAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!

As far as toyotas go, you might want to take a look at some reliability data before you scoff, and of course it says Toyota in my profile, it doesn't say ONLY Toyota:

The Camaro MAY be a part of the answer to the Mustang - but one also needs to understand that Ford makes the Mustang as their 'halo' or 'performance' car. That's where they spend their dollars on performance.

Chevy has two performance cars - we put our dollars into two vehicles.

So - in terms of Chevy's stable of performance cars versus Ford's stable of performance cars - the ZR1 must be taken into consideration......you may not like that or agree with it, but in the grand scheme of things, the ZR1 is our "king of the hill" so to speak.

As to "Toyota" in your profile, not sure exactly why someone on a Camaro site would put "Toyota" in their signature if indeed they drive a Camaro or a Mustang.

DO you drive a Camaro or a Mustang?

You tell em FbodFather! I traded in my 2011 LS for a 2010 2SS/RS and I no longer have your signature under the hood from Camaros For Heroes in Fayetville, NC March 2011.
