No. I'm more pissed off about the lousy quality of the 2010 parts vs newer models.

Ok I can accept that it must just be me.
![]() No I didn't expect GM would come out with anything MORE powerful than the LS3 engine. Neither did the dealership I ordered my car from. It was their opinion that the 426HP-LS3 would probably be the most HP you were going to get in a Camaro. This opinion was based on mandatory fuel mileage standards that were going to be the law. Regarding comments about the quality issues with the 2010, I haven't had any quality issues and I have an R6P car. I have to many mods on my car that I won't get if I buy a new ZL1. I may buy a ZL1 when my SS is paid off, but I won't sell my SS. Thanks for putting me in my place...

I'm still waiting. I still don't think GM is done. What's that tell ya?
I'm thinking I'll own the very last of the 5th gens. That way I know I have the very best that GM ever offered in the 5th gen camaro.

A couple of things...
One - we will never stop making improvements to our cars and trucks.......to sit back and say "well............426hp is enough" will get you run over! Two - Let's assume that you DID know back in 2010 that we'd offer 580hp in 2012.........would you REALLY want to miss a couple of GREAT YEARS behind the wheel of a new Camaro? ....and for those of us who may not be 'pushing 60' but are 'bending the hell outta it'..... it's later than we think! I had a mild heart attack and had three stents put in back in 2006...over 90 percent blockage in the 'widow-maker' -- .and I've decided that I'm not going to put off to tomorrow what I can experience today - because without the stents, I would have surely died.......now - I'm not going to be foolish and spend every penny that I have - but I remember a great-uncle who I loved dearly - he and my great-aunt saved and saved for an 'ultimate vacation' after his retirement...........well........he had a stroke about a year before retirement that killed him..........and I just felt so bad that they could have experienced many great weekends together travelling......yet they didn't...... So - I hope your 2010 Camaro has provided you with many miles of "Perma-Grin" - and that it was worth the purchase!

Scott, your message was very poignant. Life's too short folks. The older one get's, the more the message becomes clear. Enjoy what you have, for there are no guarantee's moving forward. "Tomorrow's" never come. It's only within "today" that we live. When one waits too long, they can loose the opportunity to seize the moment. I for one do not choose to wait any longer. Looking back, having seen the high performance car industry follow a very slow sine curve which has risen back and beyond the apex of factory high perfomance machines from 1970, I'm "all in" for the 2012 ZL1. The British SAS motto is; "Who Dares, Wins...". Nows the time....seize the moment. Folks, be happy for who you are and the point in History where we live. We are truely fortunate indeed. For there is only today that we live in, tomorrow is just a speculative theory.

I wouldn't say I'm mad that a ZL1 is coming out after I purchased my 10 SS. More of a I knew it would happen sooner or later, but didnt think this soon. I have loved every minute of my SS and all the new friends and experiences I have had as a result. But I may not have modded the crap out of my SS to over 800 hp if I knew the ZL1 would be here so soon. I most likely would have traded up but that makes no sense now having what I have in mine. But in a couple years when mine is paid for I plan on a CTS V, a Z06, or a ZL1 depending on where the cars are at in specs by then or if a Z28 makes it out. But enough rambling, not mad or upset, the release may have just changed some things. And we also have to think about where GM was when the 10 came out. They're in te business of making money as well as providing its faithful with a solid product. How much would it have hurt initial sales if they said, oh if u wait 2 or 3 years we will have a supercharged monster coming out.....how many would have waited?

I got the first 2010 5th Gen my dealer received, a Rally Yellow 2LT... I was never really into cars until I got my Camaro, and it changed everything. For the past 3 years it opened up a whole new interest of fun for me.
I've gotten the same enjoyment out of my V6 as most with whichever motors in your car. So 3 years later we have the ZL1, and I am beyond stoked to see it with a lot of interest and will possibly upgrade to it. In the end I'll always remember it was my car that saw the beginning of this new error. |

IT's OUR TURN TO POUNCE -
FBOD is so right. In many ways. I hope you "get it"....
Russ, what I want to add, is that, about the time he was getting his stents (GM was also having a strong health problems financially). They were being scrutinized highly by the gov't for every penny they were spending (since it was, for the most part taxpayer money). The $50 Million or so in development/launch costs of a HP Camaro was not going to be approved by the CZAR overseers. If you will recall, at the time you, RUSS, were looking at your 2010, you had to know how much conversation was out there regarding a possible Z28, and that it WAS in back room development (2008), then it was shelved in March 2009, then it was reopened in Sept 2009. You bought KNOWING there was a possibility "one day"... the stories about this were in all the rags back then. Had you been tuned in, you'd have always known it was something GM wanted to do, and that it was a question of the FEDS letting it happen while GM was having solvency problems. The times and conditions changed. The project made it "out in the open" and ultimately to us! Something tells me that the "window of opportunity" to bring this to market was limited and GM "POUNCED" once the door cracked open just a little bit between March and Sept of 2009! "Now or never" And that door could SLAM SHUT just as quickly as it opened. Those of us who have lived through several business and political cycles know this. It's part of our DNA. I think AL O, Cheryl P, Scott S, Ed Welburn, + + + All did everything they could to get this project done while they are still within the walls of GM!! In Sept 2009, we were advised the project was BACK ON... so you should have known a HP Camaro was coming. We all did! We all know that the ZL1 could be a FLASH IN THE PAN too! So WE ARE THE ONES POUNCING NOW!!! March 2009 - Z28 Program SHELVED. Mar 2009 - http://www.autoweek.com/article/2009...#ixzz1kTju5jmY General Motors has delayed indefinitely the Chevrolet Camaro convertible and Z28 high-performance variant to save cash, sources say. The Z28 was to have challenged two rival performance muscle cars--the Shelby GT500 version of the Ford Mustang and Dodge's Challenger SRT8. Sept 2009 - High Performance Camaro UNSHELVED!! http://www.ridelust.com/chevy-camaro...or-production/ July 2010 - Z28/ZL1 Test Mules spotted!! http://www.caranddriver.com/news/che...z28-spy-photos These two just for giggles and reminiscing: July 2008 CAMARO announced http://www.automedia.com/Blog/post/o...ro-422-hp.aspx Mar 2009 Camaro (1/4=13.0), Mustang (1/4=13.9), Dodge R/T (1/4 = 13.3) track test http://www.popularmechanics.com/cars...risons/4309423 EDIT: I also know through my research the GM is testing Dual Turbo DI V6's right now! What does that tell you? |

Nope. It's just you.
I don't really care for one. I'm happy with my SS. But to think that Chevy would not come out with something like this later on down the line is just foolish.

I'm not upset at all. I'm glad they waited. The cars are better now and I'm more prepared to own a car like this. I can't wait to get mine. It's 2009 all over again.
