The reporter admits that he's never drag raced. Are you disapointed that the car was slow or that his skills are not up to snuff?

If he had a poor ET, all the engine in the world is not going to recover that much time back.

Put this in the hands of a driver that can have time to tinker with the car, get to know the shifting and the clutch. Then we'll see some good runs with the ZL-1.

Just because the reporter didn't give us a blazing time slip does not mean he didn't do his best for what he knew. Be thankful that he took the time to video the car and what it sounds like going down the track.

I'm just fine in a manual. lol Drove them all my life but admitedly I'd need a few hours to practice to get back the feel to get good times.

I am very interested to see what the auto runs in anybody's hands. My guess is high 11's on a decent track surface in good air.
any video is better than no video. I don't want information censored because it isn't flattering.

It's still a stock car with stock suspension on stock tires. Not the launch control monster everyone is expecting.

I'm still waiting for these "mid to high 11s with the right driver" numerous people have now taken the ZL1 down the quarter and no one has even matched Chevy's times.

How long are we going to have to wait for the right driver to come along?

hmmmm....I didn't think about the other ZL1 in the video..looked like its time wasn't much better than the 13.6 time by the rookie driver either. Wheel hop was obvious...it seems the ZL1 wants to bounce and rattle the fillings outta your teeth while the GT500' rear wants to slide around and slap you in the face. My SC'd SS wheel hops like crazy, too, which my greedy dentist doesn't mind. While my rear sliding happy GT500 almost made me a YouTube star (sliding into the next car).

I don't believe your sig! Just kidding. But you ran 12.35 with 426HP.

Also, not same suspension as anything Camaro has had before.

We'll see when it's in the hands of those like you that actually drag race.

I know that my 2003 Z06 bone stock ran low 12's and I am pretty bad when it comes to drag racing. All that smoothness that I strive so hard for on a road course is really hard to overcome to bang through a 1/4 mile.

I am betting this car will be faster than that with me as the same driver.

I haven't heard if they are changing to a different wheel/tire combo. but if it's anything like the current ones then you are dreaming. it will trap higher but still run a high 11 to low 12 et with a good driver. the avg driver will see the same numbers this guy did. . .except maybe a higher trap speed.

it's not all about trap speed. A low et with high trap speed equals good driver and car. a high trap speed but high et equals good car bad driver.

426 rwhp is about 500 flywheel HP and I did it with light weight wheels, skinnies and drag radials.

What does the ZL1 have, suspension wise, that will help it in the 1/4 mile? Everything I have read about will only help it on the road course.

I would agree that it seems GM might not want this video out there. LOL
I don't know about a launch control for a LS3 SS. But the ZL1 has one and according to other threads it has a no lift shift also, which means you don't have to lift the throttle when you push in the cluch and shift. Evidently this guy did not educate himself on this car before he drove it.
