All - we will build ZL1s thru early June.

Someone said that they wanted to order one thru their dealer.

#1 - ask the dealer if they received their 'ZL1 guide number -- also known as allocation....' They can get this from a GM website. (no you cannot get on that site)

#2 -- if they are going to receive a ZL1 - they can take your order right now - submit it - and give you an order number. It will show 1100 as the status code once that happens.

We cannot build all of the 2012 ZL1s at once. As you've probably read, over 33% of the car is 're-engineered' - meaning a whole buncha new parts and components.

Thus - while we've started regular production - it will be a slow ramp-up (go read my post) -- and we will build them thru early June. Not every dealer in the country will get a ZL1 for the 2012 Model year. I cannot tell you how many we'll build because my crystal ball can't see that far ahead.

By the way - how did your front fascia modification hold up??? It looked great when you did it....just wondering how it held up???

My dealer got five ZL1 allocations for the 2012 build year. All five allocations were spoken for in Nov. 2011 and all five of us got a six digit order number. I was the first person on his ZL1 allocation / order list. His first allocation came up in Dec. and I passed on the first allocation because Crystal Red was not available. The number two guy took my place and his order was accepted. The dealer got a second allocation in Jan. and I had to pass on that allocation because B92 was put on constraint. The other three guys waiting for a ZL1 also wanted the B92 hood and the dealer was forced to order a ZL1 for the store or lose his allocation. A third allocation came up today and he told me that he would place my order for me today. So I have my fingers crossed that GM picks up my order. He said that he will know next Tuesday if the order was "placed". I hope this helps shed some light on the ordering process from my prospective.

I'm hoping to get confirmation that my order has been changed to reflect the carbon fiber insert

Once the initial demand is filled and dies down, will any and all dealers be able to order a ZL1 in the 2013 model year just as easily as an SS is?

Get with your dealer and ask them exactly what they ordered for you and what options were included in the order.

I'll plan for a 2013 MY After reading this is prob safe to say all the allocations my dealer was going to get, they got.

Time to call up my dealer and bring him up to date on
what's going on. Hopefully he has received another couple
allocations and I can now place my order with the options
I wanted.

Oh I've bugged them today. I even have them the directions on how to modify the order straight from Becky D. I asked them to email me when they changed it. If they don't, I'll stop by there tomorrow on my lunch break.

They only have one person in their dealership whose allowed to edit orders after the initial placement. They (as my salesman told me) do this on order to make sure the salesmen don't order cars that management doesn't think can sell. Each order (unless to customer specifications) has to be approved by the owner (they are spending his money afterall)
