it can happen safely with a twin screw system from whipple. the stock block is good to 550 crank. whp with a twin screw is about 450-460. the only thing that really needs upgrading seperate from the supercharger system are the brakes to handle the increased power. anything over550hp crank on a GT is unsafe without beefing up the drivetrain, but there are some who are running beyond it

I was thinking about this post today for some random reason and here is my suggestion. If you want someone to make an unbiased decision for you, you are gonna have to go to a Toyota or Honda forum. On a Chevy board, we are almost all gonna suggest the Camaro. On a Ford Forum, they will suggest the Mustang. And of course on a Chrysler forum, they will suggest the Challenger. So the only way you are gonna get an opinion that is not influenced by our own personal bias, show pictures of all 3 on a foreign vehicle forum and ask them.

Buy what you want, I Never owned a Ford before the 2005 Mustang, I loved the way it looked and the great price. My Mustang has 70k on it now, I have had 400 + 1320 Passes and 12 laps at VIR each under 3.5 minutes with top speeds on the back straight at over 140 mph and not one issue.
Buy what you like and don't listen to anyone else. That Said, If all goes well I should have a Cyber Gray Camaro in my driveway in June/july right next to my 2005 Mineral Grey Mustang GT. Can't blame a guy for liking both cars can you?

http://www.edelbrock.com/media/news/...ve/021109.html 550 crank is safe on the 4.6L just need a good tune. There are several Stock Block 4.6L with close to 500 to the wheels http://www.s197forum.com/forum/showt...3971#post83971 Last week I helped a friend install a set of Livernois CNC Stage III Heads and Comp Cams, you can't even tell it has cams in it and his first Dyno run was 391 RWHP N/A no supercharger. He will have over 400 RWHP after a good dyno tune. so he should be hitting 460 to the crank and all he has is Heads, cams and headers. Driving the car you would not notice any difference except the car pulls like an Ox ... here is his Dyno Sheet http://www.s197-mustang.com/forum/showthread.php?t=187

Go with your gut. You've always had an instinctual suspicion about Mustangs, and for good reason. In my opinion it's one of the cornerstones of having sound car-nut judgement. It comes down to what a car means to you, and the double-edged sword we labor under as car nuts, er, motoring enthusiasts, is that to us a car is more than merely a means of getting from point A to point B. If it were that simple, and you wanted a bargain, you'd be buying an Accord, sensible shoes. Don't cheat youself, these feelings you have are going to mean a lot to you for the duration of your time together with this car, whatever it is. Every little loose bit of particleboard in that Mustang will rattle the more annoyingly, every asthmatic pony you do feel will instantly be obscured by visions of all its brethren you declined to corral, and every measly cent of the price difference will claw at you with every nonessential non-car expenditure. "Hell," you'll think in line at the checkout, "few more boxes of generic cereal and I'd really have had a shot at a Camaro," hanging your head as you trek across the parking lot to the shady, obscured hiding place from which you crept out from behind that damned blue oval.

I don't know about past Mustangs Since I have never owned one until the 05. But the Quality have been great, No rattles, sweaks or Odd noises. mine is an early 05 (Built June 05) I bought in July 05 and the car has been Fantastic. It's the Only Ford I have owned as well. I also have a 2000 Silverado Z71 Offroad (Best truck I have ever owned) and we have a 2004 Chrysler 300M also a very nice car, had alot of early problems but all fixed.

As much as I love Mustangs, for 2010 go with the Camaro. Hopefully the rumors will be true and the 2011 will get 400hp, until then I think the Camaro's a better deal. The only thing I like that Ford's doing with the 2010 is all the options you can get.
And to clear any confusion, the 400hp supercharged 2010 Mustang has a 12-month/12,000-mile limited warranty. The 550hp does not. |

I think ill hold off for now on the stang though if i could get a great deal on a dark blue with whte stripe GT500 id def. consider it. I dont see them driving around anywhere just at 2 car shows so that would be a plus over the standard GT but ehh... ill just keep waiting and trying to get a good deal on a car i like

I highly suggest going to drive the Mustang before making any decisions. I am one of the "converts" around here. I have always loved Mustangs and currently own a 2000. When I drove the 2009 I was extremely disappointed. If you are tall (I am 6'2") I felt like my face was mashed against the windshield. I didn't like the feel of the car and it is lacking in power for the price. Don't even get me started on the 2010 Mustang. What the hell did they do to the back end of that thing? |
