Yeah...I saw the pricing on that when I was looking at them on the Brutespeed site. Definitely NOT a cheap upgrade. I'm still a FEW dollars short of a GTR. Would have to stay in Afghanistan quite a bit longer to afford that, but it's a car worth considering...least for me.

Jeffco and Lenco trannies are super cool. Definitely a lot of work to drive on the street though. Have to kick that downshift habit. I help crew a good friend's car, 69 GTO with 632 Big Chief motor and that's a hand-full to drive, even with an automatic. Talk about a car shaking your kidneys!! We should be back at Bandimere this year with it. Hope to see u there.

I have heard that, because the 18K service is $2000, all for a friggin tranny oil change, but I have a lift at my house and can remove the lower panels and change my own oil. That price is for rich guys who can't get their nails dirty. I can't do the warranty thing. I'm gonna mod it from day 1 anyway...I'm looking for a modded one now, so warranty will be toast. It's probably still out of my reach for another year though. By then, someone will have found a way to upload the LC4 program to the trans and make it a 2.9 0-60 car...
Sorry, don't wanna start a GTR thread here. My apologies

Hey Rob, I know what you mean about downshifting a Lenco - but you can downshift a Jeffco! That's why I picked it over the Lenco. Totally streetable.

We definitely gotta meet up this summer. That GTO sounds like a beast - is it a street car? I thought about going with Big Chief heads, but I got the brand-new Dart 385's instead. They are amazing heads, too.

Man, I'm totally looking forward to meeting all you guys on here soon! Very cool group of folks on here!

Wait...you guys would pick a GT-R over a ZR-1? If I had the choice, I'd take the $100+G, buy a 5th Gen, dump $20k into the motor/tranny, and have an 800 hp Camaro that would eat a GT-R alive AND still have enough money left over to buy a couple new Harley's or better yet, a couple Victory's.

Not knocking anyone, but personally, I'd rather buy American any day of the week...unless we're talking about Veyron-money.

Actually, about $65K will get it done. Not even considering buying new. Modded '10 with about 550-600hp, AWD, 0-60 in the 2.9 range. Untouchable. That will run a low to mid 11 second pass (and none of that adjusted crap) here at altitude without major upgrades. Currently the fastest car in the world. That's ZR-1 money (prob less since there will be the "given" dealer markups ) and will dust it on a road course and at the strip. Just a matter of taste now. I like American muscle, hell, I own about 6 cars, but there's something about that GTR. I can prob get my 5Gen in that range, but it'll be hard on parts and I'll be on the bottle a lot..and praying for traction.

With my current mods plus 9" diff and tranny, clutch, etc. I'll be in the mid 50K range anyway...and still slower. If anyone's ever raced an AWD car, the launch is seriously addicting!!

even if you mod it, you can still keep the warranty.... unless you are going to MOD IT. then yea warranty wont do you any good. simple bolt-ons and you have a mid 10sec car... heck you can run high 9s with full bolt-ons, e85, and little weight reduction (you cant do much really on those)

yup..scary car. Friend of mine posted a vid of his doing an upper 10 sec pass in Pueblo and doin 185mph on his way across country. Not doing 185 in a 5th Gen...least not yet. Haven't gotten past 140 yet.

a 2012 GTR over a ZR1?? hmmm I would seriously think about it. it will be a hard choice, for me at least.

its not just about power really. you can also buy n older built 4th Gen camaro for less than $20k with over 800hp.

the 2012 GTR are a 10sec car STOCK. with minor bolt-ons and e85 you get a very low 10s car and maybe even crack 9s with full bolt-ons.

you will def be able to build a 9sec camaro for about 40k. but you will still have the cheap interior (pretty much everything in the car except for its nice engine) and at the end of the day you will be driving a camaro instead of a GTR and the GTR will still drive nicer and have all the technology that the camaro wont have.

for me, the only reason I keep buying those corvettes and camaros is that they come with a nice powerful engines and relatively cheap. but you also get the cheap interior and cheap stereo parts ( again pretty much everything is cheap on those haha)
