Hmmmmmmmm....... I agree on the BS meter this is kinda high but it could be the closed transports. if it's too close on each side of a closed transport then it would take more time and be harder to get them forward. Logistics would become a little rougher if it wasn't planned in the begining.

But still sounds like bs info.

Why wouldn't the mirrors fold? I don't think I've driven a car that doesn't have folding mirrors.

I know I'd be pissed if I backed out of my garage and the passenger mirror snapped off because I was 1/4 inch too far to the right. I do that about once a year when my wife has the truck parked too far to the center of the driveway for me to back out, but the mirror just folds the other way so I just get out and correct. It's an unlikely occurrence but still.

Lots of cars have mirrors that don't fold.

My VW has mirrors that fold, but they barely make any more clearance...it's pretty worthless and I wish they had cut $20 out of the price of the car and cut that feature.

umm, correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think the mirrors extend much farther out than the rear fenders. This would suggest that folding mirrors would have no real value. I saw this in an engineering plan view, but can't seem to find that pic again. It had a grid background. All the pics I've been able to dig up all have distortion from the angles they were taken at.

Check out the dimensions in the Wiki. The mirrors don't extend past the widest part of the body, so they don't need to fold in.
