How will Chevy answer this from Ford?

The running battle between Chevy Camaro and Ford Mustang enthusiasts has only been good for all, as Chevrolet and Ford pour more brainpower into the escalating pony car wars. This video shows one trick the 650-hp 2013 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 has up its sleeve -- a set of built-in track apps that's like a built-in J.C. Whitney catalog in the instrument panel.

Likely caught by a recent auto show attendee, (and props to them for thinking of it) the apps include a host of measurements like cylinder head temperature and intake air pressure that hard-core tuners need to wring the most from their vehicles -- and far more advanced than the monochrome visuals available from the Camaro's dash. Ford already builds something similar into the F-Series pickups -- allowing truck drivers to see stats like grade angles.

The Boss version of the Mustang already offers the Track Key system that resets a host of controls for track duty. There's already rumors floating that Ford will extend that system and use even more advanced software controls to overcome the drawbacks of the Mustang's chassis design to beat the speeds of the Chevy Camaro ZL1. That's it, boys and girls. Give yourself to the Dark Side.

there should be a video screen in that spot also to see who is behind you, or so you can make video phone calls.

Thats slick. Chevy won't be able to "answer" that til next model year. Camaro has a HUD though which is arguably more useful if it can display the info you want.

There MUST be some way to get data/functions similar to this with a cable and a laptop in our Camaros. Anyone have any info on something like this? Googling didn't get me very far.

They won't have too. You will have to worry though if you line up beside one though. After all the drive of the shelby will probably cross into your lane when he's spending all is time focusing on the trinkets on his screen.

Very Cool! This should be fairly easy to add into Chevy's HUD system with the addition of an accelerometer and some programming I would think. (key word being should!)

I have a similar display and features in my DiabloSport Trinity unit. I have not found a good spot for it yet but it works fine.I also would like to see this type of feature in a proper screen in the center of the consul that would also play the Backup Camera , GPS and any future device that may come on the market.Other car manufactures have had these features for years
