I to am in Alaska (Soldotna), and after 3 winter seasons with my SS I can tell you with certainty that if you detach the neg battery cable, you will be just fine untill April.

Ok so it is brand new (74 miles) and I am set to redeployed back home late next month less than 60 days, thats not too long for any damage to happen right.

Mine has been in since 2nd week of Nov. Will start it up in march/april when ever road clear up. Remember new cars can sit for months after being built before being started or drove. (especially those being shipped from over seas). My dealer has a few that have been sitting unstarted for 3-6 months. They just take the batteries out of those cars and put fresh ones in when they are sold.

The only thing I would do since you're in such a cold area is fill the tank up to full so there's less chances for vapors building into condensation.

Unless he means resetting the clock, radio stations and settings like that then yes that would be true. But what does that take like 5 minutes tops to reset?

mine sits from November through January, no starting it up during this time, no tender and it starts right up like it was never sitting.

I just left Fairbanks after 23 years and the extreme cold snaps of -60 plus below zero will still not do any damage to your vehicle, i even parked my truck outdoors for 6 weeks while on the slope and it always started with no problem after plugging it in, leave it in the garage till you get home and all will be fine!

He said you don't want the battery to go dead, if it does, the computer loses it's programing and they have to reprogram everything.

I don't know about that "reprogramming" part. lol

i think the biggest thing that happens when you unplug battery your windows might get stupid and have to relearn their position ,and i let mine hibernate for winter and use trickle charger

Yea I had a problem with that. My window stayed half way and it wouldn't go up anymore. took me a little while to figure it out and fix it...

Fuel stabilizer and battery tender. Make sure the tires are at the right pressure to help prevent flat spots.

Starting your car and letting it idle just builds up moisture in the exhaust and other areas where it can't burn off. Either drive it for 10+ minutes or let it sit the whole time.
