Grey Stripe Option

I can’t believe we still have no idea what the grey stripe option is going to look like. I am vin#52 and have yet to see what the option will look like although I ordered it. Is it going to be clear coated like the exposed insert or flat grey like the black stripe? Is is going to have a carbon look to it or just plain grey? Is there a reason why GM will not post pics of this option or why we can’t get any confirmation considering they are already built??

According to the GM RPO list the DSW dark gray stripe will have a carbon fiber look.

DSW - SOLID DARK GRAY STRIPE CARBON FIBER APPEARANCE

Wow, if you are right Bear, and you usually are, that really makes me happy I was hoping for a carbon look to the stripe.

Matt, Have you seen a Transformer stripe? I could picture it looking like it. Now the only thing is that the C/F insert has a gloss were as the Transformer stripe has a texture to imitate C/F. I'm following right behind you @3300 now.

If it is like the transformer edition it is not my cup of tea only because it does nto really match the exposed carbon on the chevy cars with it I have seen.

I have a pic on my phone pm me and I can txt it too you. At the portland auto show the transformer camaro was right next to the ZR-1 with exposed carbon top.

those two did not match each other but I am hoping that chevy would not do that kind of mismatch and the materials for the camaro would be different.

this is why I left them off just could not get info.

My wife and I were at our local mall shopping, and to my surprise Chevy
had a display going of some cars and like 8 reps there to answer questions. Along with a large screen with a video set up to there web site.
One of the cars they had on display was the new transformer camaro. That's the first one I've seen close up, and I have to say the strips are more black then grey in appearance. I really doubt that they will use the
same strip for the ZL1 exposed carbon fiber package.
Oh and I brought the reps up to date on whats going on with the ZL1 .

My wife ditched me and went shopping on her own at the mall. I guess she figured I would be there for another 30 minutes and she would miss valueable shopping time. She knows me to well .

Right on, congrats. You may even take delivery before me. From my understanding, being in am vin#52, I will likely be stuck in QC for awhile. Yours may not have the QC hold, due to higher production #

I am more confused now than before, after reading that thread. If the RPO code says "carbon fiber appearance" I am going to assume thats what it will look like. Fbod only confirmed it will be dark grey, which we already knew. Why can’t we get confirmation on sheen (gloss or matte) and appearance (carbon fiber or solid grey). Can’t be that difficult to answer. How frustrating to pay $60k for a car and not even get an awnser to what a major cosmetic feature will look like.

Ok I just checked the dictionary and they listed gray/grey togather

between black and white in color, as ashes or lead;clouded;dismal;turning
white;aged;

(source websters dictionary)

I'm not sure why they have not posted a pic on those grey strips. Unless
they were having issues with them and they were unable to have a finish
product ready for the test cars. It is annoying not to know in advance, just gotta have faith they'll be awesome.

I'm still going with my theory that it'll be a solid gray stripe (that's what it sounded like from fbodfather) made out of the same vinyl material used for the ZL1 Carbon concept. It was used for the carbon lettering below the ZL1 badge on the hood and it matched the exposed insert rather well.

Sounds logical to me. I hope to see that car one day, love the rear spoiler.
