Let's say I get a loan from a Credit Union in my name, with my Grandmother as a co-signer (yes I have a job, on the books now, and will be paying for the car).

Do you think the dealer will let me register and basically have my Mom sign for the car so it can go under her insurance?

Ok so then I guess I'll just have to have her take out the loan as well, and I'll just pay it.

Just have your Grandmother buy the car. This is basically what you are doing here. Have your grandmother buy the car, put you as a co-signer/co-title holder and call it a day.

You can still have the car insured under you and your mother but if you will be driving the car generally you will have to be listed as a driver.

Lol i remember when i had my mother buy me my 2000 Camaro SS which had nitrous and blower, the dealer gave her the keys to the car and was like ENJOY your new car! (i paid for it she just used her name/insurance)

I don't know how it works at your credit union but at mine, if you take out a loan to buy a car, the title is put into the name of the credit union and they keep it. When the loan is paid off, they turn over and transfer the title into whoever's name was on the loan.

As for insurance, the dealer does not care whose name the insurance goes under as long as it is covered. It is your insurance company that cares whose name it is under. The only way to find out for sure is call them to find out. No one on this board can answer that for you.

I wouldn't if I were you. If, due to your age or poor driving record, you register the vehicle in your mother's name, you better hope you don't get in an accident. I did work for insurance companies as a P.I., and they will investigate who normally drives the vehicle. If they find out your mom falsely insured the vehicle for you to save money, they will likely void your insurance coverage.

Sometimes things are meant to be for a reason, should you not be able to pull this off. Try again at 18 or even 21.

I'm guessing your dealer is hoping you are able to get this Camaro.

In New York, the title is not held by the bank/credit union, etc. There is a lien on the title with the banks name.

Ant, usually the bank wants the registrant to be on the loan (most do). So, if you and granny are on the loan, you can't register to mom. Either register to you or grandma.
