The chevy dealer in Moreno, California has somewhere around two dozen VIN's for 2ss cars, almost all the base price MSRP, listed as Avis cars. I called the dealership and they said they didn't expect any of them before the first week of May. I tried Long Beach Ca. as a rental location and none are available. That's weird that there's one in ATL.

Are you guys really serious with those kinds of questions? All the Camaro enthusiasts combined will not buy as many Gen5's as a rental car company will with one big check. GM needs as much money as it can get, quickly, so delivering cars to the rental companies before joe-average-buyer gets theirs makes perfect sense. Yeah, it's frustrating, but as Spock put it, "the needs of the MANY outweigh the needs of the few or the one".

Your telling me that Bubba can go park his '82 Ford F-150, plunk $100 or so bucks at Hertz and drive a Camaro before the guy that pre-ordered one last October... That's messed up!

All of the loyal GM and Camaro fanatics are just being shown how loyal GM is to them. Thankfully I'm not one of them (nor to any company or business). Just someone who thinks this new Camaro looks cool enough to give it a try eventually.

This is just another reason not to want my taxes to help bail them out. I feel sorry to all that preordered.

I somehow doubt these rental places have a lot full of Camaros that you can just walk right up and rent. You surely have to reserve one in advance and the waiting list is a mile long I'll bet.

I actually called Avis a couple of weeks ago when I saw on the VIN tracker thread that close to 100 2SS' were ordered through Moreno Valley Chevy. The car has been showing on the website under the "Cool Cars" category for a month. But of course, NO ONE in customer service at Avis knows which locations the cars will be at. I was told to find either the Corvette Convertible or the Camaro (because I knew most-likely none of the Camaros had actually been delivered to Avis yet) any where in California I would have to search each of their 50 California locations. Great customer service huh?

I guess I could have been a real B and made her search each and everyone while I sat on the phone. I've sent two e-mails to Avis customer service and received only one response that was generated by a third-party center. I did also search for both the Corvette and Camaro at several key tourist points here in California, Hawaii, Florida and also in Vegas thinking those would be likely places they would carry those speciality vehicles. NOTHING. So it would be nice to find out where all of the 100 Avis, already built 2SS' are going.
