My thoughts from the first night with my SS

So I picked up the car at 7 last night. #3931 After an hour and a half or so of jacking around at the dealership I was finally on my way.

When first sitting in it and getting actually ready to drive, I was like holy crap this windshield is small, seems like you can't see much at all. After five minutes of driving it though you get used to it and it's not really an issue.

The car seems to be great quality though. The doors close very solidly. The fit and finish is good, very even seams around the doors, hood, etc. The door panels line up very nicely with the dash, not off like we saw on the #1 pictures.

The controls take a bit getting used to, just figuring out where things are. For instance the door lock's are in between the two big knobs for the climate control.

The ambient lighting looks good on the doors. I actually think it might be distracting if it was on the dash. The hid lights are awesomely bright. One annoyance I came across with the lights is as follows. On a car with the RS / Hids the fogs lights function as your daytime running lights. Unfortunately you can't turn on the fogs at all when the headlights are on. Thats pretty annoying. I always liked the look of the 4 lights coming at ya.. Hopefully someone aftermarket will create a plugin module that turns on the fogs when the lights come on.

The Boston Acoustics stereo sounds alright. I plugged in a 16 GB USB flash drive with about 12 GB of songs loaded it. It took FOREVER to index the drive so that albums, artists, etc are searchable via the stereo. I know it's missing a bunch of stuff yet from the drive so I'm not sure its actually even done yet. I'll be checking that out tonight.

So now the part everyone wants to hear about. THE POWER --- ARRR ARRR ARRR (Tim Taylor grunt...)

Well I've pretty much babied it for the most part. At idle / normal accelleration the exhaust sound is ehh, nothing as menacing as the car looks. Put when you give it a little crack on the gas, she growls very nicely. The car is definately going to get up and go once it's broken in.

Thats all I have for now. Just waiting for work to end so I can drive'r home

Here's hoping everyone else who has an order in gets their cars soon because you're going to love'm!!!!

Oh, mine DOES have the weights on the Brembos...

So, you are saying on the RS equipped models that the non-RS push in type button for the fog lights doesn't exist? The knob for the lights just turns but can't be pushed in to turn on the DRL/fog lights?

I test drove a v6 and the first thing I notice was also the tiny windshield and the blind spots. The leather seats were awesome. The v6 was alright but I'm glad I got the v8. I also had a guy almost run into me coming down an on ramp while he was staring at it.

Sorry, I have to laugh every time some one mentions how small the windshield is on the Camaro...I drove a 1955 Chevy for 8 years as my daily driver and a 1956 Chevy for 5 years as a good weather driver...keep in mind both of these cars used 12" wiper blades!

You'll get used to the Camaro's windshield and you'll stop pulling up too far at stop lights too since you won't be able to see the light...

You should be able to just turn the light switch to the left to turn off the fog/day time running lights.

I have to disagree on the BA system. I was pretty frikin satisfied. Ill can tell you guys, as far as factory audio goes, this BA system is near the top. And 500 bucks? Come on.. its a steal. If you're a true audio lover, then of course you are going to have to add some.
