- Outside is all buttoned up
- car WAS in the barn for a day or two... but that is back at the shop.... going in for some more HP treatment.
- perlins are going inside the barn now
- started to put in make shift benchs
- moved over a few large metal cabinets.
- the garage doors were a bit of a pain.... still need to find the right automatic garage opener... hopefully one that interfaces with my phone.
- Stairs to the second story are done and reenforced. These are awesome... if you havent seen them... they are reclaimed bleachers from my High School gym.

Next on the Agenda,
- Get the rest of the permits so we can get Gas and Electric in the place
- decide how we are going to insulate. We already have 3 quotes ranging from 4k to 10k. so that is a little discouraging.
- Heading to Green Bay to pick up an 85k BTU furnace for bottom (freebie), already have a 35k btu vertical wall furnace for upstairs
- paint the damn slider

Have you thought about spray foam insulation? They do it for anything and is better than normal insulation. Here is a link to what it does and maybe you can find a dealer in your area to give you a quote.

where do you think the 10K estimate came from.

thanks though... great idea... but the foam is the most expensive type of insulation.

I think the plan will be to do batting on the garage walls, then use foam to envelope the upstairs in. The downstairs will rarely be heated, so cheaper insulation will be sufficient, then the upstairs will be done with the good stuff.

start recycling newspaper. shred it and stuff it down the walls. it will be cold for the first few weeks/months, but spring and summer is just around the corner. set up a deal with newspapers or schools to collect their recyclable paper. then shred it and stuff the walls for cheap.

then there's also adding the reflective film as well.
