Drew10 can stand in for me.
You'll all do fine without me. I have other things to do now. A permaban is probably for the best. Sent from the recovery room!!! |

I think there is a grace period if you edit within a certain amount of time it won't put that, but if you edit it after that time period, it will.

Have any of you guys done your own tint? I'm thinking about tinting this spring, but have never done my own. If you have any recommendations on what to get or where to buy? Possible mod day job?

Not worth it on the camaro... pay someone to do it. Its only like $100 at some place like spade. If you had a truck or something I'd say lets do it... but its going to cost you almost as much just for the precut tint, plus take you forever, plus you'll probably have to buy two sets of tint for when you mess up because your going to mess up the rear window.... but if you do it yourself you'll save a lot of time getting it precut, expecially with those awkward read corner windows. Additionally most tint places will actually use black vinyl over the top part of the rear window to prevent white circles around the factory blackout, and then will tint the bottom. And trust me, this comes from the guy who does EVERYTHING himself.

2010 Camaro SS modified extensively. I stretched the body to make it a 4 door, but I swapped in the 3.6L DI V6 for fuel economy. Then I picked up a corvette body around the V8. I also swapped the body for a C2 Z28. (In short I traded it for three cars, a Corvette Z06r, a C2 Camaro Z28, and a Cadillac CTS Summer Performance package 3.6L DI with Aisin 6spd.)

I agree. I wouldn't try to do it yourself on a nice car. I think they always end up peeling off or looking bad somewhere. It was only $100 or less at Spade. I don't remember exactly how much, but they did a good job and not too expensive. I'd say it was worth it.

I agree with Brooks and Jaylin, I tinted my 4Runner, a Jeep I had, and several friends cars years ago. When I bought my Camaro I didn't even give it a thought. With the window indexing and everything else, I found it easier to take it somewhere. If you decide you want to attempt it, I have all the tools you will need including a heat gun you can borrow. It's worth the cost of having someone else do it though.

Tint is NOT a DIY.
Drop it off, go get lunch, come back and smile. Find a place that has a good reputation tho. I've had tint shops screw up my cars. Sent from the recovery room!!! |

Thanks guys. All your responses were along the lines of what I was thinking, but just wanted to make sure. Next question: what % are you guys running?

15% on the side and back windows, 5% on the windshield eyebrow. Ohio only allows 50%, which isn't much.
