Mud flaps or clear bra??

I've searched the forums on both subjects...I know I'll need a clear bra to protect the front...but was thinking I'd get the mud flaps to protect the doors and gill areas...seems like it would be cheaper then the flim. Any thoughts? And good or bad experiences? Pics?

I'm planning on doing the clear bra on the front and mirrors and then the splash guards to protect the rockers.

I have installed the splash guards on both of my Camaro's after seeing some paint damage in the first 300 miles on the quarter panels. Where I live there is a lot of small rocks on the road and it eats up the quarters. I would put those on first. I have yet to put on the clear bra. I have had very bad experiences with them in the past. I plan on keeping my cars for a while and in the past the clear bra lasts about 3 years and then starts to discolor. I park one of my car's outside all the time. If you are parking in a garage and at work, the bra is probably a great idea. For me it is not.

This is based on my past experience. The newer materials may be better, but have you ever seen any plastic that does not discolor over time?

I have the splash guards, and aside from just protecting the side of the car, they help add a nice little appearance difference that your normal Camaro doesn't have. The only issue is, thye don't work with ground effects, so if you have GFX, Clear Bra FTW!

I bought clear bra right away for the front, and added splash guards later after seeing the chip damage after just a few thousand miles. I wish I'd clear bra'd the gills too. I'd say adding BOTH is a good idea.

Midnighter I had a guy paint black ones IBM for me, he matched the paint with a Dupont blend, it's held up very well. Cost me about $80.00

Clear Bra vs Quater Flares

I had the clear bra installed on the front, the hood, the mirrors and around the trunk opening. I also had the quarter flares painted and installed. They don't offer them in the white either. I really like both and feel they were well worth the money. After 2,500 miles, no chips. That makes me very happy. I like the way the quarter flares look too.

I had them put the clear bra material on the rocker panels and up on the fenders behind each tire. As well as the mirriors. I also had it put on the door handles and along the trunk where i always grab. They also replaced the stuff from the factory on the doors and door jams. Unless you look very closely you cant even tell its there..

Just by looking at your banner I dont think you would have to worry about discoloring with black or yellow. Plus it would be under warranty and would be replaced for free. The newer films do not yellow. Go with VentureShield Ultra, Avery Nano, or Xpel Ultimate and you will be fine.

Now as far as the splash guards go they do a great job of protecting the rocks coming off your own front tires but will NOT protect rocks thrown up from other vehicles. When a rock flies up then bounces it does so at odd angles. So anytime you pass a car, or a car passes you either oncoming or the same direction as you... you are subject to getting rock chips on the gills. The clear bra will protect you completely where as the guards only protect from some of the damage.
