How do you address QC when the GOODYEAR tires are subjected to temperatures that technically VOID their warranty? I can understand spot checking a number of early ZL1s prior to shipping & ramping up production, but at what cost? I'm patient, but this is an entirely different matter. All things considered, wouldn't it be prudent to assure the QC of the tires... the ONLY things connecting the vehicle to the road?

Maybe being in the cold weather is part of the QC.

The unauthorized photo's you saw were ZL1's that are ready to go.
Hope that guy does not lose his job, because that was what should be happening now, we should be getting updates like crazy from the plant as this is a one of a kind car. Please see ZR1 for any questions. I realize there are other customers and other cars being built there, however Chevy laid on the hype and you should throw a dog a bone....lots of money involved and this should be an intimate experience between Chevy Oshawa and the people that are buying them. Can you guys/gals from the Oshawa plant hook me up with an employee required shirt. That would be cool. Thanks for the dedication and professionalism. Just run out in the lot and throw one in PZHSC5. ![]() ![]()

It's obvious you guys didn't read the entire bulletin: http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=187045 I also don't believe they will be moving them at more than 10-15 mph before shipment so it shouldn't hurt the tire to sit in the cold and be moved onto a shipment truck or railcar either. By the time it gets to you most likely the tire will have warmed up to more appropriate temperatures or at very least you could talk to your dealer about having it sit inside for a day out of the elements before you pick it up. Let them make this car right. I don't want to get the car and find out that X part on X was faulty or not properly tightened and there is now a recall because it was missed because QC was too short. I'd rather them find it and have it addressed during this period and the process for assembly can be adjusted or replacement parts made and installed.

A few of us have tried to give you as much information as possible - and I respectfully submit to you that even if we were on here three hours a day trying to answer the questions we CAN answer (there are many we can't for many reasons....) we'd still have a few upset that we didn't answer every question. We've made it clear on several posts that we do not ship ANY new car or truck at the beginning of production -- until there are meetings between engineering, suppliers, and manufacturing -- to ensure that the cars (or trucks) are as they should be. This is necessary in order to ensure a quality product. In fact, even on vehicles that don't change that much (...think 2010 to 2011Impala) -- there are STILL 'under-the-skin' changes - and until we accumulate the required mileage on the CTF fleet - and meetings are held and everyone signs off on the vehicles in quarantine, we will not -- let me repeat that - we will not - ship the vehicles 'to commerce' -- Let me give you an example: During the time we were building 4th gen Camaros - I rec'd a V6 convert with a manual transmission as a CTF vehicle -- at about 2,300 miles one evening, I was entering a long, sweeping interstate ramp - and there was a person in front of me going extremely slow -- Now - we had made many calibration changes to the ECM --esp the drive-by-wire..for this 'next model year' ....and I managed to 'bog' the car down in 5th gear below 1800 rpms - and guess what? There was an error in the program and the car died right there -- we were able to capture that error and fix it so that our customers would not experience something similar - THIS is why we take our time with the CTF fleet - and do all kinds of 'unusual' things each day to the car - the last thing we want is for you to be upset with your Camaro (or Silverado or Malibu or CTS or Regal or etcetcetc....) yes - we have a lot of money tied up in the lots - as we cannot 'invoice' the cars until they're shipping.....so you can be assured that we're not sitting back saying "...heeheehee!!! let's see if we can whip 'em into a frenzy!..." We want you behind the wheel of your new ZL1 - as soon as possible -but we will NOT ship them until we feel all is right. Don't be concerned about the tires.......we aren't driving them all over the place.....they'll be fine.

12/21/2012. The zl1 is actually manufactured around the Mayan calender not the gregonian calender. It was the Mayans that inveted the word magnetorheological so the are on qc hold till that date. The Initial delivery will be right as the world ends.
