Alcantara Steering Wheel

Has anyone tried this?

Here's a pretty nice DIY...

Edit: Looks like the OP from that thread started his own business and wraps wheels for 175-190 bucks. For that price I would love to get this done. http://cobywheel.com/index.php/photo-gallery

Crappy? Look here.. http://cobywheel.com/index.php/photo-gallery Nothing cheap about it. Its Alcantara the stuff sells for over 100 dollars a yard. Hand stitched onto the wheel.

The CTS-V and ZL1 have Alcantara covered wheels.

I would be down if he removed the leather first. This looks like it would be too bulky afterward.

The material is thin. I have a plastic steering wheel. That's why I am contemplating doing this.

Who has a cheap core to sell me?

+1 if the leather was not removed it would look bad IMO. Those pics in the second link do look good though.
