Yeah just took a look at the top 10 fastest cars in the world Today only 1 of them has a V6 and its last on the list so yeah it still depends on the number cylinders you have ! Why do you think Ferraris and Mclarens use V8s and V12s ? Those guys aren't stupid they know what works and what Doesn't. And the most a TT V6 can be capable of and still have an aluminum Block and still be safe is around 550-600 bhp the most ! And for the money its going to take for GM to build a lighter 500-600 bhp TT V6 Camaro and have it reliable and fuel efficient you know its going to cost over 60k so tell me who's going to buy that ? what collectors ? the hardcore performance guys ? Yeah i Wouldn't see the import guys buying a 60k+ camaro just because it has a TT V6 and then not to mention they would be turning away the older guys that want the Z28 to be a V8 and actually have the money to buy one.
So yeah sorry about writing this whole thing just wanted to explain all my views on the subject
You are trying to change the subject after seeing proof of my point. The best performing cars aren't just V8s. After all, if the number of cylinders was so important why not a V16 as the only performance engine???

As for the straw man you through out there, no one on this thread suggested a 600 bhp V6 or $60K car (except you). We are talking about a track car to compete with the BOSS 302. Reduce the weight, improve the suspension and put out 450 HP and you've got it. No reason that can't be a TT V6 and keep it in the $40-45K range. I'm one of those older guys (grew up driving V8s in the 70s) that would buy one. More importantly think about the guys that grew up after that with Nissan Zs and Mitzus. They may want to upgrade from their current 370 Z to something like that when they may not be interested in a big V8. Gives GM a chance to win back the lost generation...the more people that buy a Camaro keeps GM improving the Camaro.

We all LOVE our Camaro's. They are all GREAT. Twin turbo V6 or a Supercharged V8. There is a place for each and every Camaro in my book.
