Looking to buy a Cam - Need recommendations

Buddy of mine gave me these recommendations and I don't know what to do. I want to increase HP with the idea of going to a SC in around 18-24 months. I want reliability as this is a daily driver but i want a good sound.

Buddies recommendations:

220/235 310/620 113 lsa - a good cam, but the LSA would be choppier than the other two... would make it less of a sleeper

229/242 610/625 114 lsa - probably the best upgrade cam here based on your big cube/blower setup... 114lsa will keep it almost sleeper sounding, but will deliver good power... the .610/.625 intake/exhaust lift would make it more efficient at letting out exhaust gases than intaking them

235/250 620/620 115 lsa - this is a BIG cam... the 250degree exhaust duration is a monster... .620/.620 lift is a nice, even ratio, but I kinda think the size of the cam would be useless in a blower application... this is the cam I would go with if you were going to be running it NA

comp grinds

#54-477-11 227-243dur@.50 114 lsa .614-.624 lift really good low end and midrange with an rpm range of 2200-7000.

#54-478-11 235-251dur@.50 115 lsa .621-.624 lift. comes on a little later in the rpm range but gives more midrange power and little more up top this would probably be my choice because of drivability. rpm range 2500-7200

#54-479-11 243-259dur@.50 116 lsa .624- 624 lift. more of a race cam with your setup mostly for upper rpm power great for drag. rpm 3000-7200

You are better off talking to a professional for advice. I would recommend calling Ted at Jannetty racing, he will get you hooked up.

Im not so sure any of those would be ideal for a SC. Call ADM since you live in TX.

Checkout the Texas Speed 231/236. tons of dyno results here & the camshaft was developed on our in house superflow 902 engine dyno. We use the engine dyno to test many different camshafts when selecting the design we would offer our customers.

I would go TSP 231/236 I made 498/462 on a Mustang dyno with full exhaust, cai, and underdrive pulley. Awesome street manners and a evil idle.

those are some great numbers! for the tsp 231/236.

I was thinking about doing an underdrive pully but im worried that because i have a sound system in the car, that it will be more of a negtive with possibly under powering the sound system. what do you think?

Woah! Those are some killer numbers from the 231.

To the OP, I'd say that the 231 and the G6X3 seem to be the Cams of choice around here. There are other Cam choices out there but it's always good to identify your goals and what you want out of your car.

Sometimes budget can play into it as well.

Call comp cams, ask for Gabe Gray and he'll set you up with what you need for free. You'll also need to know if your going to be using a roots or centrifugal type blower before you decide on a cam.
Centrifugal is a vortech/ procharger type or I've even heard folks call them sidewinders.

Roots type will replace your intake manifold like a kenne bell/whipple style.

I have Ted's rough idle blower cam and it is with out a doubt the best out there. Works great with centri or roots/screw type.
