131 SS- Everyone will be nervous because they don't want to upset you, but you can let any one of the novices weld on your car as long as your willing to spend some time with an angle grinder.

But only you know if you are one of those people that expect perfection. If you know yourself well enough to know that then your going to have to pony up, or else your going to be disappointed AND your going to start an unnecessary grudge (and thats why most wont want to touch your car).

If your not trying to restore it, but just trying to get something to look decent and fix the holes, your willing to do a lot of work yourself, and you truly aren't concerned with perfection, as I said, any one of the novice users can do it, as they'd do it to their own cars they are just afraid of angering you.

Another alternative is you can bring a few pieces of scrap sheet metal, have one of the novice users spend a hour teaching you how to do it, and then you can practice a bit and then you can do it yourself.

Just some thoughts

I also swapped the body for a C2 Z28. (In short I traded it for three cars, a Corvette Z06r, a C2 Camaro Z28, and a Cadillac CTS Summer Performance package 3.6L DI with Aisin 6spd.)

Does mod day have a date set? I looked at the posting but it still had a bunch of dates all over the place that looked like they were up in the air.

Currently favored date is 4/28. I'm hoping to hear from a few others before deciding on the exact date. The thread has only been up about 2 days.

Are you coming?

Not a bad idea... Its pretty easy to learn, just takes time to "master". I burnt many a holes on the 67 Camaro before getting the floor in!

My Dad has been doing some welding of body panels on his Torino, but I don't want to commit him to working on mod day any more than he will be. Maybe he will help "supervise".

Guess I nees to clarify. I'm installing inserts not full bushings so I assume sawzall use is out of the question?

Your list sounds about right. It was a lot easier than I thought.

Inserts... oh, dude, those are cake.

No need for a sawzall at all... for that we need an air chiesel. Takes less than an hour and no need to remove cradle! Hardest thing is popping off the washers. Thats what the air tool is for. Gordy brought one for me to use on mine. I can't recall what we used on JDs. FAMF hammer and a spud bar I think... with a lot of force. Not the right way.

I'll bring the chisel. Easy to do with just jackstands.

Boy, mod days starting to look more fun everyday. I'm not sure if I'll have any mods by then. Its starting to warm up, calipers will be painted soon and lines will go on with. And the ZL1 spoiler needs more work than what we can do at a mod day. so and brake lines will be on. Only thing I have right now is a clutch kit to put in. But that seems more than what we usually do.

Is that the one from Adkins, or did someone else start making one?

SPEC has one now. I bought there full face stage 1 kit, good till for 340lb/tq. Very nice kit. This also has to be the thickest flywheel i have ever seen. Good ole Adkins is out of business and broke.
