Thanks, it was my first time racing at a track. Definitely hope to do better this Saturday. I wonder if I can get 14.0 with just Trifecta tune. I was trying to get closer to it, but never did. I do wonder if perhaps having stuff in the trunk was part of the issue. This Saturday when I go I am stripping a lot of stuff out to try to get closer to 14 but I can't be faster than 13.9 or they will make me get a helmet which I don't currently have. Perhaps I can borrow one from someone there if that ever happens.

Be sure to get put on the "stock" run list. It's on the 1st page. What RPM did you leave at? If you've never run before i'm totally impressed. I've been racing since the '70's. You got skills. Congrats !!!

I am not completely stock. I do have the Trifecta tune along with RX Catch Can and Breather, but nothing else yet. Majority of my runs I left at idle or 1000RPM. Yea, it was my first time racing at the track. Thanks man! I wasn't sure how well I ran in comparison to others. I hope to improve this Saturday when I go again.

Great run, congrats! nice 60ft. If it was 10 degrees cooler, I bet you would be a tenth faster.

Maybe they rent helmet's at the track?

Best of luck on your next runs.

Thanks man! I never understood what's a good 60ft and a bad 60ft, but a lot of you keep saying it's good so I'll take it The temp out was between 50 and 60 Fahrenheit. I can't imagine much better weather, lol.

They don't rent helmets sadly because I asked.

Thanks man! I won't make it out to the track until next week Thursday after work. It's open from 6pm to 10pm and maybe I'll get better runs. I'll for sure post my slips if I get anything good.

For our V6 stock or modified, anything around 2.0 or faster is a GREAT 60' time. Anything slower than that is starting down the path of not so good.

Theory factor says for every 0.1 you can shave in 60' is worth 0.2 at the big end.

Go back thru the pages and look at time slips and you will get a good reference set for time slips.

I'm taking mines to get a dyno soon and then to the track to get baseline times. I never actually dragged on a real track before so it should be an adventure to say the least

I saw wyd_trkr's "wanted" post before refreshing this thread to look. If you guys think it's relevant, I can post my slip from when I ran in Orlando during the Sunshine State Camaro Rally, Friday, 3/2. No prior racing experience on track or street and I pulled a 14.66 on my first run, 14.92 on the second. I was expecting worse but the car helped me out. Didn't appear to be fast enough to make the fast list so I didn't bother reporting it.

I need to get more runs in and work on my launch technique if I want to break into the 13s, which, according to the fast list, is more than possible.

Don't sweat as much making the fast list. There's some guys that can help you look at your slip and give you some tips to help you get on the list. The most important thing is that you have fun while out there.

No sweat here. Here's the deets:

2012 1LT/RS V6 (LFX)
Tires used on the pass: Stock Pirelli P-Zero 20"
Performance Mods (if any): C.A.I w/scoop, Ark N2 cat-back
Transmission: Auto
Category submitted for: Bolt-ons
R/T.......... .577
60'............. 2.24
330'........... 6.27
1/8 ........... 9.50
1/8 mph... 76.03
1000'..........12.31
1/4 .......... 14.67
1/4 mph… 95.89
Name of the track: Orlando Speedworld
Date of pass: 3/3/12
Weather: ~ 80F (9pm in Orlando in March so somewhat warmish)

I'm in left lane, right lane is an SS (acatlover13). Nannies off, tried to dust the tires a little but I was being too easy on it so it didn't quite work. Also need to get the hang of perching and launching on the third yellow and all that. R/T is horrible, compared to someone who knows what they're doing at least. Still was fun and I can't wait to do it again. Definitely Pony Wars May 12 but possibly elsewhere before then. Looking for T&T days nearby.

Congrats on your first time making passes. Most important……..HAVE FUN and BE SAFE..

Here are some helpful tips I have learned along the way.

1. Over inflate your front tires to around 42 - 45 lbs. This will reduce the rolling resistance on the fronts.

2. Set the rear tire pressure to around 30 lbs. This will help with traction.

3. be sure to run 93 octanes. Preferably for the week leading up to the track time. Arrive at the track with a 3/8 tank of gas. Remember (rule of thumb) for every 100 lb reduction is 0.1 of a second faster. Every 10 HP increase is worth a 0.1 of a second too. (THEORY)

4. Turn off all traction devices and do a burnout while holding your foot on the brake. (automatics) Try and get both tires spinning (they both will spin even thou we have an open diff.) and heat the stock Pirellis up.

5. Stage your Camaro with all traction control devices back on. Wheel spin is an ET killer.

6. Hold the RPM's just off idle with your right foot and with your left foot hold the brake.

7. When you see the last yellow of the xmas tree light up let off the brake and put the hammer down.

Don't worry about your reaction time at first. This only comes into play in head to head running not during test and tune time.

Go straight and let off the gas after you go thru the traps at the end. Keep in mind there is a 2nd set of lights for trap speed just passed the finish line so make sure your past this point before lifting.

Slow down and know the local track rules on departing the track.

And by all means have fun. And enjoy the fun of legal drag racing.

Great tips Catman...

Nice time FSU. Your 60' is whats hurting you. If you can get it to a 2.0 youll be running low 14s which is good for a V6 Auto running the cai intake, just a catback and the heavy stock 20s.
