Questionable Performance on 2010 Camaro SS

So I bought this 2010 Camaro SS early this month, it has about 29,000 miles on it. The car is only getting about 12-13.5 MPG and it's died a few times this month while I was idling at a stop lights. Any idea what could be causing this or how I'd go about correcting it? Any advice is appreciated - thx

Is it stock? You could try doing a fuse pull.

The fuse pull might help performance if low octane was ever put in, but if the engine is dying at idle, that's kind of strange. Was it ever tuned?

You need to take that right back to where you bought it, if its dying at idle then there's a big problem.

Didn't you test drive it? If so, did it do it then?

Yea I test drove it and it had no problems then. The only problem is that I bought the car from a dealer in Chicago and I'm in Texas. So taking it back to the original dealer isn't really an option unfortunately.

So here's what i'm going to do:

-Replace air filter
-Fuse pull

If that doesn't fix it, I'll just keep researching the issue. Worst case scenario, I'll bring it into a dealership to fix it.

It's only done this 3 or 4 times in the past month.

Your warranty should be (yes, that's *should* ) honored at any Chevy place.

Back when I needed the fuse pull, it wasn't causing it to die (you could tell the performance wasn't 100%, but it wouldn't die at idle.)

Good luck.

Hopefully the car was not modded then tuned, and the seller pulled the mods and didn't reset the tune to factory. I would always be leery of buying a used performance car with an unknown history. If it was tuned you might have to kiss any warranty that's left goodbye. If I were to ever buy a "stock" Camaro I would have the ECM checked if it was ever tuned.

12-13 MPG is way to low. I have headers and CAI and the lowest I get is 19 MPG city/highway mixed driving. 12 or 13 I would have to be romping on hard. If you drive only stop and go city, then maybe I can see it.

I'm with bannom.....I'm wondering if it's been tuned but the mods have been taken off without a re-flash to stock.

The best way to find out is just take it to a dealer and hope it dies on them. My luck has always been to take it to the dealer and they can't replicate the issue. If you do take it to the dealer and your car is stock then see if they will re-flash it back and/or ask if they can tell if it's ever been tuned before.

This is exactly what I was thinking! But that Orange car I am thinking about was at carmax so he should have no problem going to carmax by him and them looking it over.

OP more information on the car. I am outside of chicago myself.

What dealership?
