Hello everyone. I have a 2010 2SS/RS. Does anyone have any recommendations of what cheap winter only wheels I could get that would fit over the Brembo's? Preferably 18's if possible. I plan on throwing the Blizzaks or Pirelli Scorpians on them. I was told that the stock 18 inch camaro wheels could fit over the brembos, but I am not sure. Luckily, here in Indianapolis this past winter we had the most mild winter I can ever remember. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

I was wondering what same size tire for 20x8 and 20x9, I got a set of SS rims which I plan on getting powder coated here soon and I don't plan on rotating the tires and I was looking at 255/45-20's, which goes with an 8 and 9 inch rim, all I need to know if this is do'able, I don't want to purchase 2 different tire sizes.

The front 24545R20 will fit a 8 and 9 inch wheel. Lots of folks running this setup for winter.

Will most 19" clear the roller skate dampers? I'm trying to find a good winter setup, but Tire Rack only lists 20". If I go off the "winter package" page they have some ugly Elbrus 19"s but I don't even know if those will clear the brakes.

I would just get a set of 20" winter's but...

#1, they're gonna get salty, and #2 the rubber is way cheaper at 19" than 20".

A couple of questions, please:

1. Similar to the previous poster, I'm wondering which of the current 19" rims, in 8" to 9" width, fit over the roller skates and come with the proper offsets, etc.? If I work through winter packages on the TireRack site, several different brands come up. Do they all fit over my 2SS/RS stock brakes?

2. Early on in this thread, and yes I read it through, someone mentioned changing out brake pads so that they didn't need the roller skates. Does that work? Are there alternate brake pads for my Brembos, Hawk Ceramic for instance, that work quietly enough without the roller skates to allow more flexibility in wheel choices?

Most 19 will NOT fit. The elbrus you do not like will clear the dampers. They actually look pretty good on these cars. If you swap out the pads it will open your options or you could go with some more expensive wheels that will work and look more fancy.

Hi Rudy,

I have a question for you. I have been thinking about running winter tires on my stock SS wheels and getting a new set of wheels for my summer tires in the springtime.

Am I crazy?

I have the "roller-skates" on my brakes and I don't really want to buy a set of 20" wheels just for winter tires. Would a 275 rear winter tire be overkill? is there a better option for me?

Putting winter tires on you factory rims is a good option and lots of people do that allow you to put on a summer wheel that you like. You can run the 275 on the rear which works good or you can run a 245/45R20 both front and rim it fits on both rims fine.

The 245/45R20 will fit the rear rim?

Yes they will fit up to a 9 inch wide rim and your rear factory rims are 9 inches.

Just placed an order Rudy for some winter tires! Wanted to get in on the $50 Amex card! I did reference your name as well. Thanks for such an informative website making it easy for ANYONE to order tires for their cars without stressing.
