3157 Red LED Taillight Bulbs
I bought white 3157 LED bulbs for my taillights but they are nowhere near bright enough IMHO. I saw a recommendation to get red somewhere, because a white LED is close to blue and therefore filtered out by the lenses. Does anyone have recommendations? Online I found 18, 24, 36, 60 and 68 LED emitter assemblies in red.
Also, will I need a load resistor? Based on my testing I'd say no. P.S: Anyone want some white 3157 LED bulbs? |

Let me know i am working the same issue.
I tried the 3157 Spider LEDs. Dont even go there. to low and you get a crazy flower light in middle. ![]() Got to be a nice LED bulbs that is as bright as the OEM ones. Now my DRL LED's are bright and nice! i also think they make these in 3157 mount. but then dont know how much power it will save since its so bright. might as stay with normal ones?

Thanks. I was looking at the spider LED bulbs and you have certainly made me think twice. I put the LEDs on the right and kept the regular bulbs on the left for comparison. I'd say the difference is 2 to 1 in brightness. LEDs are cool, but I don't need some bozo up my backside.

what did you already try and didnt like?
Here a nice FAQ for LEDs http://www.superbrightleds.com/cgi-b...bulb-notes.htm I was looking to get these. They say these bulbs emulate standard incandescent stock bulb with entire lamp housing illumination and no hotspot Also these are Amber or RED! http://www.superbrightleds.com/cgi-b...-CK.htm#photos 3157-R18-T(LEFT) vs. 3157 Stock Filament Bulb(RIGHT) ![]() 45-LED Tower Type 3157 Bulb ![]()

Sorry, I'm still working on lighting, but instead of taillights I put some footwell lighting in the back seat and added some lights to my wife's car. Taillights are on hold for now. I have been mulling over adding afterburners.
The guy I bought the white ones from has quite a selection of red. http://www.ebay.com/itm/RED-3157-SMD...item4cfb10ccb6 |

I can't get to their site right now, but I got my set from V-leds.com
Good ones aren't cheap, I paid about 50 per set. Added load resistors via a trailer wiring plug in harness... no splicing factory wires! |

The trailer harness plugs into on both sides behind the lights, giving you a place to splice the load resistors in, without tapping factory wires. Also gives more flexibility in location of the resistors.
![]() I don’t have the bulb pn handy, right now, v-LED's site is down. I want to say they are almost 7W bulbs |

The exact bulbs I got have been replaced, they now are a plasma-style bulb at that price point, I suspect that the output is similar. The new PN is 3157_15_HP_R

I'm having custom made 3157 LED bulbs from a good friend of mine. We did a straight up trade. I gave him 4 12" subs and 2 amps from my old truck and he's making me some kick ass bulbs. 4 bulbs, 80-100 red LEDs each, with a sequential module.
