Aight first let me say I am not an expert on Camaro's, in fact I am not even a huge fan of them, but I am interested on the release of the new Camaro because of how our economy is going and the hopes Chevy are putting on this car. In no way am I an expert on the car.

But it does not make my opinion on this matter any less relevent.

I will preface my response with a quote that one of my managers said to me

"Do not ASSUME, because when you ASSUME something, you only make an ASS out of U and ME"

Now the biggest issue I am seeing people having is that they ASSUMED that Pre Order automatically meant FIRST to receive the Vehicle. But here is the issue. No where has GM said or IMPLIED that people who pre order the Camaro would get the car first.

Back in January I went with Mindz to a Chevy dealership to watch a Teleconference between the GM top brass and the Dealers, and one of the things I got out of the meeting was that CAMARO's will be Alotted to customers based on a census on what dealerships sold the most cars. Also it said people who pre ordered the Camaro most likely would not get their cars until October on the second cycle of the Camaro Release. This was a conference DEALERSHIPS watched or attended, so they knew that Camaro's would not be Gauranteed to Preorders right off the back.

So the issue with people who pre ordered the Chevy is two fold

1. People saw the Word Pre Order and immediately assumed "OH YIPPEE ME FIRST ME FIRST"

2. People were getting Hoodwinked my dealers to pre order to get the person's sale because guess what people thats what DEALERS do.

The first issue is if you Pre Ordered with the ME FIRST attitude, you did not read or research the product thoroughly before you pre ordered the Car. Oh you know all the specs, and what comes with the car, but you were blinded by the glitz and glam. You did not look for the information that was given, you only looked for the information that you wanted.

The people who fell victim to the second issue should really learn how to read a situation for what it is. Your talking to a dealer. The Economy is bad, dealers work on commission. And you thought your dealer was giving you objective advice.

Now some cold hard facts. This kind of stuff happens with legendary cars get re introduced, just look at recent history.

When the remodled Mustang came out, the same situation happened. People who pre ordered the car did not obtain the car until MONTHS after it was released. Even the chief design engineer of the remolded mustang did not get the car until 8 months until after it was released.

All people had to do was look at what happened with the mustang before they pre ordered the Camaro. Your answer would of smacked you in the face right therer in then.

I do sympathize with people wanting their Camaro's. It is a very nice looking car, I am not a huge fan of muscle cars, but I can definately see the Mystique in the New Camaro. If I was a fan of American Muscle Cars, I am pretty sure I would want a Camaro.

But people do not let your want's dictate your actions. Your car will be ready when it is ready

Just Chill out.

I been reading threads on this forum for about 4 months now, you can thank Mindz for that. I understand people have a passion for the Camaro, and passions leads to extreme emotions

But Logic and Emotions don't play nice on the internet being that most forums are ruled on the Emotional side of the rhetoric triangle (pathos)

I have been reading this thread for nearly an hour, and I just wanted an objective post to be out there.

But I think I will post more often though great site

Soooooo....then I guess we all let GM screw us since everyone who understand English knows what the definition of "Pre-Order" is. So GM used this term intentionally knowing full well they had no intention of following a "Pre-Order" concept??? So Car Dealers have now replaced Lawyers as the lowest form of scum on earth??? Is this what you are trying to tell us?

I mean, if this is what I should take away from this then

R6P folks have waited for long enough GM!!! Build early orders before any new dealer orders regardless of allocation. Stop treating your most loyal customers so unfairly!!!

Are you mad at GM or the dealers? I think you're confusing the two again.

I got no hate in my heart for you guys, I understand people are mad, I just wish people just stepped outside themselves for just a moment and look at the situation from a different point of view

GM is not the scum of the earth, I can list you tons of different companies with different types of products that delayed getting pre orders out to people. Microsoft, Nintendo, Apple with the Iphones, Heck even Blizzard when they first released WOW. Sometimes Demand is WAY WAY WAY higher than supply. GM is making sure your CAMARO is what they promised. How can you begrude them for that.

But please look at this from GM's point of view. It is not even about people who pre order are guaranteed sales. GM has to look out for the Dealerships first because it is the Dealerships on the frontline selling their products. You have to keep the Turkey Plump to reap the benefits of a good meal. For GM they have to make sure their dealers are happy and supplied because these guys are bringing in a profit for your company and a lot of time selling GM's crappy cars (c mon people know that a lot of GM cars are bad, not the camaro though)

And as you can tell about my last sentence not the biggest fan of GM or many american car makers. But I can understand what they are doing

It's all good. Nothing personal intended here. Just want to be driving my Camaro before the end of the summer.

i think the whole pre-ordering of the car was a joke and now total mess. how can somone be at his dealer at 9 am on 10/13/09 and thinking they would be getting one of the first ones to be built but yet they are still at 1100 and others can walk into a dealership today and buy one and drive away with it. alot of us who pre-ordered the car had to put down $1000.00 or more before a dealer would take your order and half the time you called to get some answers the dealer was clueless and saids gm isn't telling us anything.

how hard would it have been when ever a person pre-ordered the car to assign them a number then build them in that order? i know that gm needed to get cars to the showroom but if a dealer got thier showrrom cars gm should have told them if anyone wanted to buy them they needed to wait so they could build the 15,000 cars that were pre-ordered first.

here's the problem gm has now,you have 15,000 camaros that were ordered by someone whose owned them in the past and they are just hard core camaro fans. i ordered on 10/29/08 and this is going to be my 5th one that i have owned.

now you have somone who just saw the car for the first time goes down and buys it and gets it before the guy who was there on 10/13/09.
