They did tell me about the dent, they found out when the hauler took it off the truck. The noted it so he or GM has to pay for the repair.

Whats with all the damage to shipped cars lately? Is this a common thing but you just dont hear about it on everyday cars like an impala or cobalt?

I know the cheapest and typical way would be to repair the dent and do a repaint. But, I don't believe the paint used wouldn't be identical to the factory proccess. I would be afraid the repair won't wear and fade the same as the rest of the body. I'd be keeping a close eye on the door for the next 3/36,000!

Problem is probably due to start up , the spare parts are minimal. Well there was a post here about a couple of wrecked ones with just front end damage. Maybe pull a door off one of those? But what ever happens I am sure it will be fixed correctly. They give you an eta Scott?

Scott: Let me make you feel a LITTLE better: Back in '84 dad ordered in a Berlinetta - black on black hard top. He told the dealer to put it 'back in the weeds and do NOT prep the car under any circumstances'. Well, as dad is driving to the dealer to pick up the car - there it is right out front, fully prepped and shined up. As he is stepping out of his car to walk over to the Camaro - HIS new baby - an old two door 77 Impala pulls up next to the car on the passenger side and a 400 plus pound woman SLAMS her huge door right into the middle of the passenger door of the Camaro. Damn near caved it completely in. Dad was as crushed as the door was!

We ended up with: A new door, new ground effects all the way around (from a Z28) all gold striping removed and rust proofing (ALL the rage in '84 in Iowa!!). So, you are not alone.

The clincher on this one was after the body work was done - they "detailed" the car. There it was in the service bay when we went to pick it up again, this time away from any large women's doors. The shop guy walked by DIRECTLY in front of us and grabbed a shop rag out of his back pocked to wipe a water mark off of the hood...SCRATCHED a rainbow arch in the hood. Seems his rag was dirty. We managed to get that buffed out and never took the car there again. Feel better?

Good luck with your car.

Seriously, what is with people dinging (or destroying) people's doors? Is it THAT hard to control the door that you just have to fling it open every time?! I've had my Focus for 2 years and I've gotten 4 dings (2 on each side) since I've been back in Iowa. Once I get my Camaro, she will always be parked in the back away from everyone else. Considering hiring a body guard too, sheesh.
