Maybe they want to wait till they have enough that are getting shipped to your location instead of just wasting all that shipping money for one car. Besides that I dont know why else.

I thought the same thing but several other dealers not too far away did get theirs.
Makes me think it got stuck in a back lot somewhere and forgot about.

I encourage you to go back and find either official documentation or a post by one of the GM employees explaining the allocation and preorder system. Here's a hint: you won't find it. Go look at those posts I linked... I tried to get clarification and was told to "PLEASE STOP!" What the hell else am I supposed to do? Am I supposed to fly up to Detroit and show up at Cheryl's doorstep?

I never expected to be in the first hundred or even the first 5000. I just expected to be ahead of orders that came after production started. Even still, I wouldn't be annoyed if a few made it through. But a solid chunk of the deliveries weren't preorders. Scott also said "we want you behind the wheel as quick as possible." Please tell me how building all these other orders is going to accomplish that?
fine print is an implied statement. I'm sorry your dealer couldnt give you the answers you sought. as for dealer's and GM employee's posts on here. How many dealers are on this site out of the 3900 Chevy dealerships? believe me, I understand your frustration. I'm in the same boat. but I've been waiting over 7 years for this car. a few more months wont hurt me. if someone else gets their car before me... so be it. as long as I'm getting mine.

So in your analogy take this perspective. You pre-ordered StarCraft. They push back the date.... it finally starts happening the game is finished and the server is launched and everyone is very excited.

The vendor (Blizzard) states that it is going to ship all of their initial copies of the game to Wal-Mart instead of fulfilling the pre-orders. Preorders will get their game after we have fullfilled our legal contract obligtions to Wal-mart.

Would you be pissed and just go buy it from Wal-Mart ?

Would you curse Blizzard?

Would you be pissed at the place you pre-ordered?

This is a video game compared to a car. But to be honest the video game industry is doing much better then the automotive industry.

Not one person on this site has stated that they want their car first before any other person here. We are willing to wait for those in front of us. To sell to Dealer Stock and Rental Companies (another good analogy here ... game is out but you have to rent it to play cause you can't get your copy yet) is absurd. We PRE-ORDERED in good faith, make those cars first is all we ask.

Cars on the street is better advertising then cars on a lot.

If I find a car at MSRP on a dealer lot I will cancel my pre-order and buy that one on the spot regardless of dealer.
unfortunately, thats not the case, (for Starcraft or the camaro). we'll run with the analogy still tho, pre-ordering something means that you have reserved your personal copy. now, if Blizzard were to ONLY send their initial copies to another store, yes I would be pissed. and I would refund the money I paid for the pre order and go to the next store. however, thats not the case here, pre order cars are still being built along with new order cars. While I do agree that the pre-order cars should be built first, NOTHING can change that now. now granted, when you buy/preorder a game, its the exact same every time (with the exception of the bonus packs/etc), so its a lot easier for a game industry to mass produce the exact same thing, opposed to an auto manufacturer producing 33,000 individual versions of the same car. think of it on GM's perspective. someone preorders a 1SS with 21" wheels and a few other add-ons that aren't part of the base package. in early March (before official production starts), someone else orders that same exact setup. wouldnt it be easier to build those 2 cars in succession as opposed to building one, then switching to an LT with no options, then switching back to the 1SS with 21" wheels?

as I've said before, I do think that the preorders should be filled first, on a "I ordered before everything was finalized for options/etc and before production started, I should get my car built before someone who just walked in off the street and ordered one yesterday" basis. but, the fact of the matter is, is that a pre-order only guarantees you your personal copy of the merchandise. there was nothing stated or implied in the preorder contract that said anything about a preorder car being built before a more recent order. and it does suck. but like I told UFC woot, I've waited 7 years for this car. I can wait a few more months. not to mention, the fact that this car was initially shown as a concept back in 2006 and GM has managed to fight thru all the BS of the financial crisis, the wheel weights, the front fascia cracking, the random loss of power, the bitching and moaning on the forums, and is still going to provide the preorders by Oct (if not earlier) should be commended. yes, the process was skewed and somewhat confusing and most dealers are idiots. but while it is the enthusiast that helped bring this car back, its the everyday man/woman/teen/whatever that will be buying the majority of this car. GM wants to get as many camaros on the road as possible. whether that be in dealer cars or preorders, they want this car out just as much as we do. and they will come. waiting sucks, patience is one hell of a virtue during a time like this. I hope your car is delivered this month, I wish everyone's preorder was filled before June, I know it wont happen, but I wish it would.

and yes, the video game industry is doing a LOT better than the auto industry... cus people under 16 can play video games....but they cant drive...lol

oh, and how bout a car at $98.00 over MSRP?

and for all the complainers about pre ordered cars.... what would you do if your car was built and delivered to the dealership..... but you couldnt pick it up for a month or two? if you want the answer, go ask Tag about when his car was built and when he's going to actually get to drive it.

50 and counting! My dealer was all excited yesterday, a hauler offloaded a red SS, unloaded their cars(no Camaros0,reloaded the red one and drove off. The guys at Cadillac called over to see if "John's" camaro was on the truck, that's me! Cool, I get asked daily if mine made it yet, hopefully one day they'll see me in it!!! Beginning to think it's just a bad dream...

NOONE could give me the answers I sought. Not even fbodfather. ONE dealer posted their thoughts on the January IDL and they were told they were wrong (some of it was wrong but this piece wasn't).

Why should we have to rely on dealers to explain this sort of situation? The fact is, most dealers are unable or unwilling to fully explain the allocation system. Even if they themselves understand it, that would give the consumer more power (knowledge = power). There is absolutely no reason this wasn't explained better. Even the whole "production guide" situation wasn't published in official documentation. SEVERAL of the dealerships I contacted told me there was no such thing as a guide number for the Camaro. Either they were just selling as many as they could or they weren't selling any. They could have easily put the basic information regarding guide, allocation, etc in a document and posted it online.

Tag chose to do that. He needs no sympathy. He'll have a beast of a car as a result.

In the end, this is all just discussing things we can't change (the past). What we need is actions going forward.

Come on GM, move the rest of us lesser-celebrities to the front of the pack like you did Dr. Phil, Jay Leno, and half the NASCAR drivers.

You want to hear a complaint?! Car initially ordered last October, a 2SS/RS, made a few changes and the ordere was submitted on February 16. Car was built on April 9 and was waiting for delivery. The wife and I are all excited and can't wait, won't be long now. Then, thanks to this site, I find out that our car was ordered wrong!!! We wanted an LS3/manual and they ordered an automatic!! Talk about devastated. We specifically wanted a manual, we knew that before we chose a color. The salesman admitted their mistake and said there was nothing he could do. Now we are not getting a camaro after waiting all this time. The "bad taste" in our mouth from this whole ordeal has killed any notion of getting another. So for those who have to wait, sorry, but I actually wish I was in your shoes.
