I'm still waiting in my '12 Boss which I have had for 11 months (cough) to see a '12 ZL1 on the street.

The temptation as a Boss owner (who has his car!!!) to make fun of this is huge, but as a fellow car guy I'll take the higher road. The ZL1 a very complex car, so the story of a software glitch may well be true. Better that GM deals with it rather than putting it in your hands. And the waiting can only make the first day you drive it that much more sweet. Address it now rather than let customers deal with issues like BMW does. Thus the reason I went from several Bimmers to a Boss in the first place. I wish more companies took the approach to make things right first that GM is doing right now. I applaud them for this.

Just about all new cars depreciate initially for the first 20 plus years of their lives, and whether they become collectible depends on how desirable they are at a given time, combined with their uniqueness. Given the fact that the ZL1s have very few options, most ZL1s are not going to be particularly unique from one another. I think that people's time will be better spent if they just appreciate and drive their ZL1s as they were intended to be driven, and don't concern themselves with any potential collector value of the vehicle 30 or 40 years from now.

Agreed and well stated.

Case in point.....my 1999 Firehawk M6 convertible is car #9 of 10 total Firehawk verts sold that year in Canada (only 4 were black with a 6 speed), and it is in mint shape, low mileage and still dynos at 400 RWHP, BUT is only worth approx $16-18K these days.

My 1971 TA is nice but no where nearly as enjoyable a car as the Firehawk, and is valued at 3 times that due to the options, color and age (as you say is 40 years old). I would sell that car before the Firehawk if push came to shove because of the total package and the actual driving memories, vs how it looks in the garage and at shows

Thank you for taking the high road. Being a Boss owner, you can probably relate.

What he said on his page was that he was not driving fast and was fairly straight on the recetrack and had the stability program activated. The track was wet with a lite drizzle. Maybe this has something to do with the software glitch.
Not correct. This is a quote from his review: (I was driving in Mode 2 when the track was dry, but I failed to check what mode the car was in before I took off for my ill-fated rain-soaked ride.)

I can. On several points. My car was an early one and wasn't held for QC at all as some cars were, much to the frustration of future owners. But my car did have some issues my dealer had to put right. Still I knew the desire to have a Boss asap put me at risk. Just as some of you know wanting an early ZL1 puts you at risk. It's a tradeoff those of us who are impatient are willing to make.

At the end of the day though, having a car like the Boss, or ZL1 or down the road, a GT500 is just about worth it. Because no car IMHO is as much fun on a day to day basis as a good old fashioned factory hot-rodded pony car.

Real reason

Can anyone say "More Horsepower!" GM is holding the ZL1 to slightly re-program the computers calibrations to increase boost, HP & TQ. Not to the tune of 650HP, like the 13GT500, but how does 595hp and 570tq sound. Maybe

My bad, after I posted I saw it in the ZL1 forum. I thought the mods would delete it.

But it's still not good news for the people who ordered ZL1s.

No worries Reaper, we've all done it. It happens. I agree, total bummer.

thespymaster - Thanks, I really appreciate it. The picture in my signature is a bit old, same with the ones in my profile. I should have updated pics in the next week or so, my car is actually up at SLP now getting a few things finalized before sending back. And it does have new wheels, the SLP redlines that are gunmetal.
