OSHAWA, Ontario (AP) -- Demand for the Camaro reportedly has prompted General Motors Corp. to add the week of June 29 as a scheduled work week at the Oshawa, Ontario, plant instead of a week off.

The Peterborough Examiner reports the move Wednesday.

The newspaper says the flex line workers at the assembly plant will also start working overtime on Saturdays in June, July and August.

This report comes less than a week after GM said it would slash its work force by more than half by 2014 as part of a broad restructuring.

well guess that good news but still does alot of no good. i mean what about the pre orders who have been waiting? i understand there are many orders. well like i said good news if it is true.

its a great thing to see that with all the trouble GM is having- that the Camaro remains unaffected. I believe this car combined with the success of the Malibu will really be another start for GM.

They seem to building about 350-380 cars a day so the extra day will add
1100+ cars month. Or about 13,000 a year.
The extra week of production over 4th of July will add about 1750 cars.

Notice they are holding off until after the deadline from the government to add shifts. Them working more OT and Saturdays consistently is mainly dependent on what happens in early June. *prays* ( Why is there no praying icon on this site... don't we all do enough of it? ).

Simple solution..open/ re-structure other plants to produce this highly desireable car. You'll get your return soon enough. It's not rocket science.
