yes, suprisingly the boston is actually a really good system , once you insulate the speakers the rattling goes away and you hear the bass at its best, also if you drive with the seat down you get A LOT more of the bass circulating trough the car, for those of you who have the boston try it out, blast it with the backseats up and then fold them down, you'll see the difference

I came in to ask a question about you're guys' thread: how come it get's bounced back and forth between the section Cali and Meets and Events section?

But then I noticed stereo and speaker items. Leo, do you have the stock BA amp or did you replace it with something else? If it is still the stock amp, that may be the reason why the Pioneers didn't give you the sound you wanted.

At least you got better sound with the rear seats down. I might have to try that.

Hey Leo,

I insulated the speaker mount sheet metal When I did the trunk to get rid of drone from the exhaust. I did that speaker area only. Where else should be done that actually helps?

I was wondering the same, no big deal just one more click, but yeah some days we appear in front and others we do an extra click, I think leo still has the boston amp and I agree to get a better sound the amp needs to be replace.

Did it help with the rattling from the speakers?, I read somewhere in here that some members did a weather strip, but they didn't have pics so I don't know exactly where to do that. I was planning to insulate the trunk and around the speakers and see if that helps, but what leo did by taking the back seat it should work better.

I used durakool insulating high density pad with heatshield backing. Did the whole trunk and that speaker area.It diminshed the exhaust drone(monotone vibrating hum sound) a little bit. Figured that drone could vibrate the metal where the speakers are as well. I didnt have rattling(guess not turned up enough!) but mainly for the clarity of all sounds and deeper base if bare metal insulated.I have pics in my journal thread "blackbees big brother"

I noticed that too, I guess they just dont know where to put us

Yes I am running the stock amp and actually the stock amp is a very powerful amp, ironic part is that the pioneer speakers were 500w (250 each) and they couldnt handle the amp and the stock speakers can ..... i have a buddy who has a head unit and subs and he even said he went back to his stock amp because it was more powerful then the kenwood amp he had put in his camaro

the speaker area is the only place I did it , here is a pic, also I did it on the plastic cover that goes on top of the speakers because if you take it off you'll notice it comes with some flabby insulation which aint worth a crap so i replaced that with the good stuff and just like that the rattling is gone and now you hear a lot more bass because also when you cover the whole area around the speakers there are a lot of holes that serve no purpose so those being covered gives the rear 6x9's the right flow so air isnt escaping from all over the place

yea bro no need for weather strips, just use that dynamat or fatmat around the speakers and that solves the issue, the stock speakers only come with ONE screw holding the speaker to the metal so when you blast the speakers the bottom plastic of the speaker is rattling with the metal, once you put the insulation now you have the speaker, insulation in the middle, and then the metal it attaches to giving you a much deeper and cleaner sound, especially with seat down.

Also on a site note, I drove the car around just for the hell of it with everything stripped out and i swear it felt soooo much lighter !!! those 30-40 lbs those backseats are adding to the rear of the car really kill some of the performance !

as long as you're not cranking it up to 45 all the time you should be fine but if you plan on always having it full blast then yes I would highly recommend putting insulation between the bottom of the speaker and the metal

Sounds like a good idea. I did a test on the way home, base set at 8 and 10, mid and treble at 8 and 6 as I usually do. cranked it to full and no rattles and good clarity, less of course as it gets to the max on 10, but 8 is great.Granted one run with it that way but no rattles I could hear but will insulate the top anyway to be sure.Yeah, one screw per speaker that I could see so even 0n the 2012's they couldn't count!

Question Light Tint Question

Any SoCal guys out there...

I've got a question for you. I'm looking to get all my lights and markers tinted. Have any of you guys heard of folks getting hassled by the cops over this? I'd hate to have it all done and get ticketed and have to pull it all off.

Also, I'm going thru MnP Customs. Have any of you heard any good or bad about his stuff?

I haven't had any problems at all besides the fix it ticket I was given while speeding. The cop let me off of the speeding and just gave me a ticket for lights and no front license plate. He was cool about it though. I would do it, but just be careful!
