Line out Converters

I got the 12" round Stealth sub enclosure this Christmas. I already have a sub and amp. Here is my problem, I don't want to change out the stock headunit. With the install kits and then getting a head unit it just costs too much right now. Also I still have OnStar and XM so I don't want to lose those. I have a 1LT so I don't have the BA system.

My question is what product would you recommend so that I can get a signal for my subs?

I have seen a lot of different LOCs but I'm not sure which one to go with. I was/am leaning towards the PAC AA-GM44 but I don't know if I want to use that one as LOC from the rear speakers or just use the T-harness. Any information or suggestions you could give me would be helpful. Does the Pac Audio AA-GM44 have a built-in remote amp turn-on wire?

Thanks in advance.

You have the BA sound system? If so use the ******** harness.

Yeah, I do not have the BA system otherwise I would have already ordered the ******** harness. I have been hearing great things about that harness.

2LT and 2SS models only. After doing some research and sending some PMs I think I will either go with the PAC SNI-15, SOEM-4, or the SOEM-T. Just have to make up my mind. If anyone has some tips for using any of these products please let me know.

Just to clear something up. You can get a 1LT and 1SS with premium sound option and therefore have the Boston sound and amp from the factory. For those of us with this setup the easiest way to replace the factory amp or add an amp or two for subs is with the ******** harness(s).

BenningJ, I would think the easiest way to wire up your new sub and amp would be to pull the signal from the rear deck speakers. Just splice into those lines for the signal input. That would allow all the wiring for the new amp to stay in the trunk and you wouldn't have to run any wires through the car.

Blacktip, I think there is a wiring diagram in this section that should answer your question. Also you will need an ignition power on 12v signal which a lot of guys have been using the 12v from the cigaratte lighter in the back of the console. I think there is another one in the fuse panel behind the passenger side carpet in the trunk though.

Yup, I'm going with the PAC SOEM-T LOC. It has a built-in remote amp turn on. It detects when there is a signal to the rear speakers and then turns the amp on. This will keep that annoying sub pop out of the picture.

Blacktip, I posted a DIY on the LOC install on your thread. I hope it helps. If you read through the text and look at the pictures it will be quite clear.

Here's another question, how would you go about adding a 4 channel and retaining OnStar, door chimes and all those goodies? Would the AA-GM44 work? I'm not concerned about running wires through the car, that's the fun part.
