Rotor rust

I have a 2011 SS camaro I notice the rotors have some rust on them, does anyone else have this problem? And if so how did you get rid of it?I'm talking about where you bolt the rims to the car not where the brakes hit.

Drive it. Apply brakes. Rinse & repeat.

Surface rust is no issue. Take a walk through a dealer's lot and notice all the rust on the cars rotors.

This.

Rotors are unfinished iron. They will rust the second water gets on them, but it's all surface rust. Drive the car around the block and the rust will be gone.

This this lol, I live in Oregon where it rains almost every day. I can confirm both the rust spots, and the fact that just driving it will make them go away. I do notice the front breaks seem to need more road time then the rears.

Ah the rotor hat. Yes that will rust as its unfinished iron still. Can't really get rid of it by driving. Only way to fix it that I know of is to clean it really well and then paint it with a few coats of your preferred color - black would probably work best.

GM uses this crap zinc coating that comes off. Especially if you take it to the car wash.. The stuff they spray on the wheels really does damage to the calpers and rotor hubs..

I changed my rotors out with a set from brakemotive front and rear.. I painted the hubs with high heat paint and they look really good.. ill shoot a pic

Before and after

Behind the lug nuts and center of the rim not where the brake pads ride.....

I get a light rust (not my daily driver though) I get it out with a wheel cleaner and an old toothbrush and rinse.
I'm not sure if painting the area to match the car would look good or not

On the rears, right? I had the same problem and would look at every SS that I could and found that most did not have this problem, anyhow I took it to my dealer and the service manager was kind enough to remove them and have the body shop shot blast and paint them with some high temp paint. I chose black as the color, and I must say they look awesome like that.

Oh they did the fronts as well to match, but the hubs are considerably smaller on the fronts and did not show any of the same rusting as the rears did. At least they match now.
